Supporting local candidates, statewide

Dear friend,

As many of you know, I enjoy campaigning. There’s no better way to see our great state or get to know its citizens than attending the party functions, civic events and statewide conventions in which I’ve had the opportunity to participate over the last year. But some of the best times I’ve had on the trail came over the past month, when I joined local Democrats in Durham, Forsyth and Wake Counties to register voters.

Working together, we added dozen of voters to the Democratic rolls. At CenterFest in Durham, I was even able to persuade one fellow to switch over from the Republican side. While I didn’t convert anyone at the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, we signed up 15 people in just over two hours. People were lining up to register. The Republicans even sent over a representative from their booth to see what we were offering.

Folks, you know what we were offering: A better, stronger North Carolina, built on the Democratic principles of compassion, economic opportunity and responsible leadership. We have some great Democrats running in local elections over the next few weeks, and I know you will support them. Please go to the polls, and take someone with you. Help our fellow Dems get out the vote and spread the word about what our candidates have to offer. We don't have to wait for state races for our votes to make a difference.

Let’s make this another winning November for Democrats and all North Carolinians.

With best wishes, I am sincerely,

Pat Smathers

I see Pat out there on the trail as much, or more than others

on the campaign trail.

Pat and I have have shared small talk and handshakes many times at places where we were sharing our visions for the future with listeners and supporters.

No one candidate is working harder than Pat. I wish you well Pat.

The feeling is mutual. Both of you, including your campaigns and families, are great assets to the Democratic Party and the people of this state. It is a pleasure "politickin" with people who are willing to share their ideas and vision for the state no matter the size of the crowd or the location. I have no doubts that our hard work will pay off. If there is anything I can do please let me know.

Best wishes
