DNC
Party Builder
Submitted by Betsy Muse on Tue, 09/05/2006 - 7:47pmMost of you probably have already seen this. I received my email from Howard Dean and it sat there all day. Then I got curious and clicked on the link and created my Party Builder account at the DNC web site.
I was amazed. Using my zip code it located activities close to me and one of the first things I noticed is that there were volunteer opportunities close to me that I wouldn't have been aware of if I hadn't signed up. You can go here to sign up.
A bit of trivia you could go the rest of your life without knowing........6 of our 13 representatives to the U.S.

Shameful Six States
Submitted by Yankee_Blue on Tue, 08/15/2006 - 2:42pmI was cruising around the other progressive blogs and sites today, and ThinkProgress.org has a interesting link to a article by Salon.com. It addresses the attempts by certain groups in our society to inhibit voting. Voter Surpression is not new to the United States. However what is new is that after all these years as a functioning republic, it is still allowed to stand.
North Carolina is not on the list. It is compromised of Arizona, Missouri, Indiana, California, Ohio, and of course Florida.
In response to this threat to democracy, our beloved DNC Chair Howard Dean hits the nail on the head in reference to these Conservatives without a conscience:
For Republicans, nothing is more important than their partisan interests, not even the American people's most cherished right to vote and have that vote counted.

A Party, not a Cause
Submitted by cutter on Tue, 08/15/2006 - 8:58amEveryone interested in creating a strong roots based Democratic Party should read E.J. Dionne's column in todays Washington Post.
He addresses some of the conflicts we are seeing between Howard Dean and the DCCC and why it is important for the Democrats to create a party that is active all the times, not a group of special interests that just come together for a Presidental election.

The 50 State Strategy Working in NC
Submitted by Jerry Meek on Fri, 07/28/2006 - 9:34amJerry Meek is Chair of the NC Democratic Party
You’ve probably heard a lot about the DNC’s “50 State Strategy” lately.
When Gov. Dean ran for National Chairman, I voted for him in part because he promised that Democrats wouldn’t give up in any State and that State Parties would be true partners with the DNC. He’s keeping his promise, and it’s paying off right here in North Carolina.
After his election, Gov. Dean sent a team to North Carolina to find out what we needed as a State Party. Ours was the first State in the nation to which a team was sent. And, as a result of this assessment, North Carolina now has three new regional political directors – paid for by the DNC, but managed by the State Party – who are traveling the State, training local party leaders and helping to build local organizations.

No thanks.
Submitted by James on Mon, 06/12/2006 - 9:58amThis poll has been all over the news, but it leaves me pretty uninspired.
Democrats most likely to vote in the Iowa presidential caucus in 2008 prefer former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, a new poll shows. In The Des Moines Register poll, Edwards received 30% of the vote, compared with 26% for Clinton and 12% for Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the party's nominee in 2004. The paper said it was the first poll showing anyone besides Clinton as the preferred Democrat in the race for the White House.

LGBT Dems: Dissent from the inside not a good thing
Submitted by matthillnc on Wed, 05/24/2006 - 1:44pmOk... in my post on here yesterday, I kind of doubted going to the State Party Convention. I'm going to go now, but only to show the "leaders," politicians and legislators that I'm here, I'm open and I'm proud... and guess what: I'm not going any where and I want my issues heard, not ignored.
I'm not the only LGBT Democrat who feels this way though. There are plenty of us, nationwide, who feel as though our state parties and the DNC (under the leadership of Dean) have done nothing but take our cash and run.
I found this nice little write up today:

Old school v. new's latest chapter
Submitted by Drama Queen on Fri, 05/19/2006 - 2:03pmDavid Sirota blogged today on MyDD something I desperately needed to hear:
Beltway operatives, consultants and other professional election losers, desperate to hang onto their little fiefdoms, label the populist revolt within the party as supposedly coming only from the "left" - but as Hostile Takeover details, extensive public opinion polling data shows that those of us fighting the takeover represent the true "vital center" of the vast majority of America - and the status quo apologists are the ones wholly out of step with the country.

Howard Dean's 700 Club gay marriage
Submitted by Drama Queen on Thu, 05/11/2006 - 11:02amfiasco is under the microscope over at Pam's House Blend today and Shakespeare's Sister.
He completed misrepresented the Democratic Party platform and has now recanted. What's up with that?
Here's a quote I just read in the DFA training manual as an example of how you have to speak to ideological donors who care about a cause or issue.
I knew that if I were willing to sell out the rights of a whole group of human beings because it might be politically inconvenient for a future office I might run for, then I had wasted my time in public service.
