You'd think the Democratic Governor of North Carolina would have been well ahead of a Tea Party-affirming Republican member of Congress from our state (Renee Ellmers) in declaring opposition to the marriage amendment, but we had to wait until Friday for this tepid statement from Bev Perdue:

Two events of significance are coming up this week in North Carolina's fight to beat back the discriminatory, job-killing marriage amendment measure that is going to go on the ballot next May.

On two consecutive days after the 9/11 anniversary, North Carolina Republicans doubled-down to assault freedom in America. It is good to know we can always count on Speaker Tillis to tell the truth. Butt-boy Berger, of course, is still in hiding.

Just when I lose my faith in Congressional Democrats (the ones in Washington), the bigot brigades of the NC GOP remind me why I do everything possible to keep Republicans out of power here at the state level in Raleigh.
