NC Gov. Beverly Perdue opposes marriage amendment - and affirms she believes LGBTs are second-class citizens

You'd think the Democratic Governor of North Carolina would have been well ahead of a Tea Party-affirming Republican member of Congress from our state (Renee Ellmers) in declaring opposition to the marriage amendment, but we had to wait until Friday for this tepid statement from Bev Perdue:

Mockingstam

Marriage Amendment News - Wed: Rep. Glazier to mop floor w/Rep. Stam during debate at UNC Law; GOTV organizing 9/24 in Durham

Two events of significance are coming up this week in North Carolina's fight to beat back the discriminatory, job-killing marriage amendment measure that is going to go on the ballot next May.

The truth about the marriage amendment

On two consecutive days after the 9/11 anniversary, North Carolina Republicans doubled-down to assault freedom in America. It is good to know we can always count on Speaker Tillis to tell the truth. Butt-boy Berger, of course, is still in hiding.

Bill James wins

An activist in one national progressive organization asked me yesterday about Mecklenburg homophobe Bill James. "Should we go along with the commissioners' resolution or call for James to be censured?" he asked. Too bad he didn't listen to my advice.

Activist NC judges ignore statute & void years-old adoption

Take a read at a majority of the NC Supreme Court ignore the plain language of state statute.

The circular reasoning of Justice Newby is some insanity to behold.

Justice Hudson's dissent lays it out.

I'll post more later.

It's a thing to behold activist "conservative" judges ignoring state law.

Newby and the majority of the NC Supreme Court even shred decades of the understanding of subject matter jurisdiction.

Is Justice Newby a secret anarchist?

Here's the state law Justice Newby and his majority just throw out the window:

§ 48‑2‑607. Appeals.

Does Cameron Village have a DADT policy?

As Q-notes is reporting, maybe it does:

SONG leader Caitlin Breedlove says she and her partner had just finished eating at The Flying Biscuit on Thursday afternoon when they went to sit outside. There, they shared a brief kiss after which a security guard approached them and said they had to leave.

According to a release, the security guard said that “being affectionate” was “inappropriate.” The couple asked the guard if he would have said the same thing if they had been an opposite sex couple. The guard said, “No.”

Ann Coulter coming to Wake County

Bigotry and misogyny in a tight black dress:

Coulter is scheduled to appear Sunday night at the North Ridge County Club for the Wake County Republican Women's Club's "Politics, Pasta and Pink Slips (for Democrats)" dinner and silent auction, Rob Christensen reports.

Just to give the Wake County Republican Women's Club something to chew on as they anticipate the arrival of such a strong voice, here's what Coulter thinks about you:

"It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact."

What's even more funny and ironic: You're going to pay her big bucks to speak to you. Idiots.

The NC GOP never lets me down

Just when I lose my faith in Congressional Democrats (the ones in Washington), the bigot brigades of the NC GOP remind me why I do everything possible to keep Republicans out of power here at the state level in Raleigh.
