BlueNC Radio

The fishbowl

Welcome to my 2011 diary, a more or less daily glimpse into the transparent life of a political hermit. For starters, here's my annual state of the site report, plus some other odds and ends.

Jane's Political Salon on BlueNC Radio

This is an experiment in citizen journalism. We'll work to refine the approach and the quality of the audio as we move ahead with our innovations. The first half hour is warm up, meeting and greeting guests at the salon. You really get a flavor for what we're doing, but you'll have to wade through my learning curve. The second half hour is Cal talking. Good stuff if you listen carefully.

Sorry for the quality ... I'm a babe in woods when it comes to the new medium.

Tonight on BlueNC Radio: Sam Spencer, NC Farm Team

With the electoral outlook in the NC Senate sketchier than ever, it's clear that whatever small faith progressives have in Democratic Party leadership has been wildly misplaced. Incumbents are bailing in droves, with as many as ten seats in play - in a year where redistricting will be the next new thing. That's why we've invited Sam Spencer, founder of NC Farm Team, to join us tonight on BlueNC Radio. The Farm Team is all about the long war, identifying and cultivating young progressives who can lead a new generation of progress here in North Carolina. For background information, here's a listing of all the coverage of the Farm Team at BlueNC.

Update: Here's the show!

Tonight at 6:30 on BlueNC Radio: Gary Pearce

Hope you'll join us for a conversation about the US Senate primary here in North Carolina. It's easy, and free! Just follow this link.

Monday on BlueNC Radio

Be sure to join us Monday evening at 6:30 pm on BlueNC Radio, with special guest Gary Pearce. We'll look at the campaigns of all three Democratic candidates for US Senate. Call-ins welcome, of course. I'll also ask Gary to comment on events in Massachusetts as well as this week's Supreme Court ruling. If you have specific questions and can't make the show, include them as comments on this thread and I'll do my best to squeeze them in. Another radio interview with Gary here.

UPDATE: Gary Pearce will be joining us next week on BlueNC Radio. Should be great conversation.

Next week on BlueNC Radio, we'll be talking about the three Senate campaigns from a ground level view. I've invited one expert guest, which I hope works out. And it would also be great to include someone who's deep into online tactics. If that's your strong suit, or if you know someone else who fits the bill, please let me know.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's some background. And there's a link to our first show below.
