C-Span

Larry Kissell to be Featured on C-Span's Q&A this Sunday

Wow. This didn't take long. Does anyone remember back in 2006 when Larry Kissell had to pretty much tap dance with a peacock on his head to get press coverage? I guess those days are over.

He will be on C-Span's new interview program, Q&A along with Rep. Anh (Joseph) Cao who beat Democrat William Jefferson in Louisiana's 2nd CD. You can learn more about the program here. This isn't a live show. It was taped Tuesday after Larry was sworn in.

Still, really nice.

C-SPAN to carry swearing in ceremonies live at noon

Can't be in D.C. today? Don't worry, at noon you have your choice of viewing the Senate swearing in ceremony on C-Span2 or the House swearing in ceremony on C-Span. Both are being carried live and I will be taping both for viewing later in the day. Also on C-Span at 3:00 p.m. today we can see the mock swearing in ceremonies when the members of the U.S. House and their families pose with Nancy Pelosi for a more personal experience.

Watching it on television might be a little anti-climactic, but we'll do the best we can to toss some confetti in the air and pop the cork on a fine bottle of champagne. (OK...so maybe I'll only be serving Diet Pepsi Max, water or coffee, but we'll have something to celebrate with at noon.)

On Oversight, Or, Reality TV Was Never Better

For the past several seasons, the Fox Television Network has been the dominant supplier of “reality television” in this country, even to the point of establishing the “Fox Reality Channel” (which, for those unsure, is a separate operation from the Fox News Division) to support the further expansion of the genre.

This season, however, there’s a new sheriff in town. Outrage-they got it. Big drama-they’ve got the biggest. Giant confrontational egos on public display? Donald Trump would be competing as an apprentice in this league.

These guys got so much reality TV they need not just one, but three channels to carry it all.
