Poll results and new narrowed polls for Gov. and Lt. Gov.
Submitted by Betsy Muse on Mon, 01/30/2012 - 9:51amPoll results are in and the field is narrowed down for the races for Governor and Lt. Governor in North Carolina. While every name isn't included on the list, I included as many as I could and results were still fairly decisive.

Does local election signal statewide rebuke of 'McCrory-Tea Party axis'?
Submitted by Foxxhunter on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 2:42pmhttp://clclt.com/theclog/archives/2011/11/09/news-analysis-nc-democratic...
A piece from for Creative Loafing of Charlotte:
Democrats were able to celebrate across Charlotte last night after reelecting Mayor Anthony Foxx, improving their majority on the City Council, and getting two of their preferred candidates elected to the school board. To statewide Democratic leaders, those results were not in a vacuum — they were part of a trend with huge implications going into the 2012 presidential race.
“What happened in Charlotte is a very, very, big deal,” said David Parker, chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Pat McCrory handpicked those candidates, particularly for City Council, and campaigned for them. And the whole McCrory-Tea Party axis got shot down."

Now is the time to strike: a highly critical fundraising deadline is coming up on Wednesday.

NC-Sen: Unity
Submitted by Mike Nellis on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 9:51amI took the liberty of putting together a quick slideshow of some of the photos from yesterday's unity rally at the NCDP HQ. GOP leaders like perpetually dissatisfied restaurant customer Michael Steele, have tried to spin that Democrats are deeply divided, but nothing could be further from the truth...
Thank you Cal Cunningham.
Thank you Ken Lewis.
Now, let's go beat Burr:

NC Senate predictions
Submitted by droat on Mon, 06/21/2010 - 12:00pmMarshall: 136,052
Cunningham: 104,981
Many are predicting a much lower turnout based on most runoff turnouts. The Cunningham campaign has publicly estimated the turnout near 200K. The Asheville Citizen - Times has suggested 75K. But they aren't comparing apples to apples. They are looking at recent runoff elections that involved downticket races such as the State Education Superintendent.

Let Cal Know you support UAFA
Submitted by Jake Gellar-Goad on Thu, 06/17/2010 - 11:34pm
Please let Cal know that you support the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) and that you want him to say as much on his LGBT equality section of his website. UAFA is legislation that would give binational gay couples the same right to be together that straight couples have.
Go here and leave a comment on his wall asking him to include UAFA on his website (I posted this on my facebook & a few people have already started to do this): http://www.facebook.com/calfornc
And I think this will be an easy sell because...
- Cal already has an Equality/Civil Right section on his website
- Cal already supports UAFA as he said on a Pam's House Blend liveblog: "I believe we must address UAFA as part of comprehensive immigration reform"

Candidate Will Stand Up For LGBT Community
Submitted by Quilljunky on Wed, 06/16/2010 - 8:44pmWith my birthday looming ahead at the end of this week, I've found myself looking back over my youth and the adventures I've both willingly and not-so-willingly participated in over the years. I've also been spending quite a bit of time analyzing my personality. Turns out, I'm a fighter. I stand up for what I feel needs changing.
In early high school, I stood up against skateboarding harassment. In college, I protested war and publicly spoke against a same-sex marriage amendment. Ideally sitting by and nonchalantly watching the world pass has not worked well for me. If you want something changed, you fight for it.
That inner fighter has led me to volunteer this winter and spring with the Cal Cunningham for U.S. Senate campaign. I want to see my state represented by an individual who will actually care about his constituents - their jobs, their education, their environment and their civil rights.

Tonight's debate
Submitted by TurnNCblue on Tue, 06/15/2010 - 6:50pmI had a phone call just before the debate began, telling me to watch it.
I am watching it. It was someone claiming to be from the Elaine Marshall campaign, a campaign consultant? ron campbell?
Can anyone explain that?
I have a ton of friends making calls for her candidacy.
And I encourage everyone to vote this week, or Saturday, or Tuesday.
We have a choice between two worthwhile candidates. Neither one is perfect, but surely one or the other has some qualifications or positions you would want to see represented in DC.
Just a senator. But someone to prefer over what NC has in DC right now.
I enthusiastically will work to win this seat.
Too much is at stake. Redistricting of congressional lines. Getting things done in DC that will make our democracy work better.
We can be a better country.
