Malone congressional candidacy taking form

I believe my campaign for Congress in the 13th District is taking form. Our chances are good for an upset. I have met people in Creedmoor, Nashville, Rocky Mount, Wilson, Garner, Fuquay Varina, Apex and in Raleigh.

I just hope more people will donate to my campaign, not that I can match the Super Pacs that will be opposing me, but so I can do enough to get my progressive message out there. My dollar will go a lot farther than my opponent's will, because I'll have a ground game and it will be more effective than carpet TV ads in this mix of urban and rural areas in the new 13th.

Some BlueNC folks have helped a lot, but I need more help, so if you can spare a little, please do. Go to my Website where I have Actblue set up for online giving. Many thanks, my friends.

Malone responds to Justice Department decision in Edwards case

Press Release from Charles Malone for Congress.

Former U.S. Attorney George Holding’s decision to charge former Senator John Edwards had nothing to do with public integrity, and everything to do with political opportunism, according to Charles Malone, Democratic candidate for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District.

“The decision by the United States Justice Department to drop the charges against former Senator John Edwards calls to question the judgment of Mr. Holding in seeking indictments in this case. It is apparent now that Holding, while wanting government to cut to the bone otherwise, was willing to throw millions of the taxpayers’ money away to settle old political scores while attempting to enhance his own political career,” said Malone.

Within days of the indictment of Edwards, Holding declared his candidacy for Congress. He won the Republican primary, and Malone is his opponent in the general election in November.

Dems showing up for early voting today

I have labored every single day at early voting sites in the NC Senate 15 area in Raleigh and Wake County, and after a week of pretty even shows for Republicans, or worse, and Democrats, today was loaded with Democrats and Independents. The lines were the longest ever, with waits to vote over 30 minutes, and I got very positive reactions today. Many folks had the straight Democratic vote slate or the NCAE card. It ain't over, yet, folks. Vote and let the progressive voice in politics be heard. The people deserve no less.

Help a friend buy a sign

Charles Malone, running for NC Senate District 15, is running a truly grass roots campaign to unseat Neal Hunt. Hunt is a banker-turned-developer, as well as a proud homophobe and ardent resegregationist.

If you can help Charles with a small contribution to invest in more yard signs, I hope you will.

Malone files for NC Senate today

It was a good feeling to finally make the past several months of campaigning official by filing today for the NC Senate, Dist. 15, at the Wake County Board of Elections.

The Republicans were there in force, but I had Democratic Party company after a while. At this point, I am the only Democrat running for the party nomination, but I won't know for sure if I will be the nominee by virtue of being unopposed until filing ends on February 26. I may make it and it would save money and time to be able to focus soley on beating the incumbent, Rep. Neal Hunt, in November. Yet, a qualified Democrat has a perfect right to run and who am I to begrudge democracy running its course? What will be, will be.

Who wins this one will make a big difference in how the people are represented. It is up to the people to say no to the Republicans, who now lick their chops with the expectation of taking of control of the Senate and House in NC.

Right-wing Senator Hunt Lands Opponent

Cross Posted from The Jacksonian

North Carolina Senator Neal Hunt will have opposition in November. State employee Charles Malone has announced his intentions to challege the incumbent Republican Hunt in North Carolina's 15th Senate District.

Hunt, widely regarded as an ineffective legislator who is able to use his wealth to independently fund his campaign, is aiming to become a major leader within the North Carolina Senate GOP caucus. The Senator appears regularly on talk radio and local TV supporting various right-wing causes.

In the most recent legislative session, Hunt voted against the smoking ban in public places, against text messaging while driving, and against the school violence/bullying bill. In the past, Hunt has opposed state government initiatives designed to promote economic development and financial security for homeowners.
