The Vindication of Dick Cheney (by Obama)
Submitted by wafranklin on Wed, 01/19/2011 - 11:20amPardon: correctio, Salon vs HuffPost.
There is an interesting article at:
http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2011/01/18/cheney? The vindication of Dick Cheney
By Glenn Greenwald
Obama’s failure to rescind Bush policies or prosecute the Bush administration criminals has (1)decimated the rule of law, (2) abrogated fundamental
constitutional rights and civil liberties, and (3) given the Government (FBI, NSA, DoD, Homeland Security, etc.) unlimited powers over ordinary citizens with no right of redress). This is a dark, dark stain on Obama’s presidency. He has been captured by (1) corporations and (2) executive departments which he is to lead and manage. He has invited back in many of the major miscreants from the Bush and Clinton administrations.
If Obama loses in 2012, it will because he has conceded to so many Republican demands that there is no need for a Democrat in the White House (same way the Blue Dogs lost big in 2010).

Dick Cheney is having a meeting in my District right now!
Submitted by Larry Kissell on Thu, 01/31/2008 - 11:07amDick Cheney is in my district having a private meeting with the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. I hope he's here to do something good like bring back some of our jobs he has sent overseas, but I doubt it is that happy of an occasion. You know today is actually an important day that I doubt he is taking the trouble to celebrate. History tells us that President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act of 1935 on August 14, but I'm of the opinion that is not the birth of our commitment to our seniors.
It was actually today's date, January 31, 1940, that our commitment was fully realized in the form of Check #00-000-001 to Ms. Ida May Fuller of Vermont in the amount of $22.54 - bringing life to law, and politics to people, which is what it should all be about.

The Political Reformation Coming to America;
Submitted by Marshall Adame on Thu, 07/12/2007 - 11:14amA Reformation is a new morning, an improvement, a renovation or, restoration. I believe that America is on the verge of just such a new morning, a reformation. I admit to being an optimist, but I am also grounded in a lifetime of real experiences and having been present during many significant worldly events. Because I believe a Democrat will be elected in 2008, to replace President Bush, I feel a renewal to Americas commitment to human rights, justice and the return to checks and balances in our government is just on our political horizon and I am raring to see it happen and be part of its rebirth.
Soon, I believe, America will be waking to the real prospect of universal health care, an end to America’s military involvement in Iraq’s civil war and the beginning of a worthy and long overdue American war; a war on poverty, hunger and sickness in America first and to the world as well. Our trade deficiencies will be addressed and the hard work of reducing the crippling Ten Trillion dollar U.S. deficit left by the Bush Administration will begin.

Civil War is a Terrible Thing. It should be. (Does President Bush even notice?)
Submitted by Marshall Adame on Wed, 03/28/2007 - 2:21pmMarch 28th 07
A terrible thing happened to day in Iraq. 63 people, human beings, were killed by Iraqi police assisted by militiamen. According to the Washington Post, the police began roaming Sunni neighborhoods in the city, shooting at residents and homes. The Iraqi Army had to come in to stop the attacks. The carnage was the worst bloodshed in a surge of violence across Iraq.
President Bush cited the operation as an example that gave him "confidence in our strategy. (How many Police will be charged with murder? Zero). What kind of successful strategy is that?
"Meanwhile, hundreds of Iraqis detained in the U.S. security crackdown in Baghdad are being held in two detention centers designed to hold only a dozen or so people, The New York Times, reported today. The report also disclosed that 705 detained people were packed into an area built for 75 (by US forces) at one of the detention centers, south of Baghdad. The other center, held 272 people, including two women and four boys, in a space designed to hold about 50. (I have been to detention centers in Iraq. Not exactly a real model of success).
