We have seen some amazing days in Egypt, and it’s provided a better lesson than anyone could have ever wanted for how taking action, against long odds, can really get something done. A secret police mechanism has been pushed aside, an Army has chosen not to attack The People, and a President who was backed by the “full faith and credit” of the US Government on Friday was being told by that same US Government on Tuesday that it’s time to go.

The People, in fact, spoke so loudly that Mr. Mubarak has informed Egyptians that he’s going to “pursue corruption”, which, if taken literally, could eventually look like a puppy chasing its own tail.

The People, however, are unhappy with his answer, and they’re speaking even louder yet, even to the point of being willing to take beatings, gunfire, and, believe it or not, camel charges, to make their voices heard.

And that got me to thinking about Social Security.

Earlier on DailyKos, Bernardpliers wrote a diary about the R party and how they are trying to kill the D'Annunzio campaign in NC 8th District. This is the district currently held by Larry (the back stabber) Kissell. What is so unusual is that they are digging up dirt on D'Annunzio and flinging it as hard and fast as possible.

In another post at DK, Barbara Morrill has picked up the story and is running it on the front page. In her take, she endorses the scenario that the Republican party is trying to keep out another Rand Paul!

If our Party is indeed interested in serving the interests of the Citizens of this great country of ours, it may be time to consult the Founder and greatest Democrat to ever grace our soil, Thomas Jefferson. What Would Jefferson Do?

It wasn’t but a couple of days ago that we had a conversation about The Fear and the emails that are used to spread it, and I figured with that out of the way we had dealt with the topic, and that we’d move on to new things.

Well, we would be moving on, Gentle Reader, if it wasn’t for the fact that an email came in today that was so ugly, so disturbing, and so indicative of what we are about to see as the battle over the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) begins to heat up (ENDA being possibly the next “big contentious thing” that this Administration hopes to accomplish), that I had to interrupt my story schedule to bring it to your attention.

Michele Bachmann (R-MN).

I thought that Blue Dog Democrats were still Democrats, uh at least that they had enough sense to either support their leadership (who helped their sorry asses get elected) or keep their fracking mouths SHUT.

Shuler hits Democratic leaders on bipartisanship

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Democratic Rep. Heath Shuler said Monday that his party's leadership on Capitol Hill has failed to pursue a bipartisan compromise to a costly economic stimulus package, arguing that a lack of Republican support is eroding the program's credibility.

Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue spoke in Charlotte this week. She was delightful. I was certainly impressed.

You can't beat a Republican with a Democrat who acts like a Republican.
