Submitted by Wayne Goodwin on Wed, 02/01/2012 - 2:16amFrom a news release linked here:
It is an exciting time for North Carolina politics! As the 2012 campaign season heats up, Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin is ramping up his efforts to reach out to voters, colleagues and supporters.
Goodwin’s website has been redesigned to make it easy to find the latest news about his service to North Carolina, watch video messages on YouTube, or follow his updates on Facebook and Twitter.
Goodwin has made transparent and open government a cornerstone of his efforts in the office of Insurance Commissioner. Creating a clear and open dialogue with citizens is equally important in his campaign.
“I love to talk to North Carolinians about the issues that are most important to them,” Goodwin said. "North Carolina is a big state, but social media can bring us together almost instantly."

Flood insurance question from a reader
Submitted by James on Fri, 04/01/2011 - 2:31pmIs there anything that can be done about the new flood insurance rates? Mine jumped from $388.00 a year to $1393.00 a year. To me and my family, $1393 is a lot of money, and it cannot be broken into payments.
I can understand a reevaluation of the flood plains, but the rate hike should have been considered on an individual basis. Also, is it a coincidence our flood insurance rates have sky rocketed after all of the flooding that has gone on all over the country in the past few years?

WRAL-TV highlights Gloria Williams' fight against insurance giant
Submitted by Wayne Goodwin on Mon, 08/30/2010 - 11:41pmInsurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin and the Department of Insurance assist almost one hundred thousand North Carolinians every year with insurance complaints and concerns. However, occasionally consumers fight the fight themselves. Most often they don't win on their own.
But one inspiring example of a consumer who fought an insurance giant and won is at this link to WRAL-TV's special coverage that aired on August 30th. Or, you can watch the embedded news link below.

Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin: Fraud Fighter and Capeless Crusader
Submitted by Wayne Goodwin on Tue, 08/17/2010 - 11:01pmFighting insurance crime doesn't require a cape and secret identity in North Carolina.
Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin and his stellar team of sworn law enforcement officers in the Department of Insurance have cracked down on insurance fraud with a vengeance.
Note the reports linked here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. This is merely a representative sample from the last two months.
These results are not surprising in light of both the rise in insurance fraud during economic downturns such as now and the lengthy history of fraud fighting that North Carolina's insurance regulator has had over the years: Goodwin's Criminal Investigations Division is the oldest of its kind in the nation, and celebrates 65 years of service this year.
To date in 2010, Goodwin and his expert criminal investigators have seen more than 165 cases successfully closed with more than $5.8 million in restitution and recoveries, 40 criminal convictions and more than 65 arrests. Last year Goodwin's administration recovered approximately $10.2 million in restitution for North Carolina families and businesses.
