DSCC out of touch? Ya think?
Submitted by James on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 5:59pmJust received this email from a friend who just received it from the DSCC this afternoon. Now when people ask why I don't give money to these clowns, I'll have a link to send them to. Talk about incompetence.
Dear friend,
Thank you so much for all your hard work and generous support during the past election season. As difficult as it was to see Cal Cunningham lose, we want you to know that your effort – and the dedication of thousands of other Democrats just like you – made all the difference in keeping the Senate under Democratic control.

Broke Back Democrats
Submitted by HallStyle on Mon, 12/13/2010 - 12:58pmWell here we are again. Faced with another tough decision: Do we Stand Up for Principles? Or Do We Lay Down, Bend Over, And Get These RepubliCON/Obama Tax Cuts Rammed Down Our Throats and be Told to Like & Love? I think we ALL know what Will happen. We As a Party are going to Cave! We are going to concede defeat Fully! We are going to Bend Over and Take It! Our Will, Our Spirits, Our Backs have been Broken!
Isn't it ironic? The RepubliCON/Tea Party said that their Goal was to "Break" President Obama but Obama has dragged the Rest of the Party Down with him! They made it no secret what they planned to do. They were Crystal Clear in the Strategy they were going to use. Totally Opposition. Total Obstruction But the True Irony is that the "One Thing" that the RepubliCONS & President Obama agree on could Very well be the thing that Ends up Breaking the Democratic Party and President Obama.

Defending Blue Dogs (not me--the folks like Rahm)
Submitted by mbrock49 on Fri, 10/08/2010 - 4:27pmPosting from LA Progressive by Paul Hogarth. Reviewing last Saturday's article in the NY Times.
Democrats did not win back Congress because Rahm recruited more Blue Dogs. As I wrote in 2006, only about five of the 30 House seats that Democrats gained that year could be from “conservatives” – the rest were progressive Democrats like Carol Shea-Porter and John Hall, real team players who took the risk of standing up for liberal values in swing districts. And those – not Bobby Bright – are the ones who deserve to be helped today.
Like Secretary of State Elaine Marshall for instance?

Has the DSCC written off the Marshall campaign?
Submitted by scharrison on Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:02pmI just received this via e-mail:
National Republicans just launched their opening media attack, reserving more than $2.7 million in air time against Barbara Boxer, Patty Murray and Russ Feingold.
Our figures show that we can't win with this huge map unless we reach our grassroots donor goals. Missing goals means not competing in states where we have a fighting chance.
I mentioned the other day that I hadn't seen the DSCC mention one word about Elaine Marshall, and I still haven't. And I want some answers.

Health Care Now Pledge
Submitted by Dan Besse on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 6:33pmSome unknown -- but potentially decisive -- number of Congressional Democrats have tentatively concluded that their electoral chances this fall are improved by avoiding further debate on health care reform. Let's prove them wrong.

DSCC Money: What is the effect of today's announcements?
Submitted by oldwellblue on Wed, 01/06/2010 - 3:57pmFrom Rob Christensen’s article in November regarding the DSCC’s influence in Senate races:
“The Etheridge decision underscores the importance of the national parties in Senate races. In some ways, the DSCC has become a kingmaker in Senate politics. Their decision to get behind state Sen. Kay Hagan last year, spending $11.5 million on her behalf, was critical in her defeat of Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole.”
I think the announcements today from Sens. Dodd and Dorgan may put a strain on the DSCC's ability to pump $11 to $12 million in support of a single candidate. It looks like they will need to spend at least some money in Connecticut and North Dakota may be as difficult as North Carolina. If the DSCC gets behind a contender like Ed Schultz (link) then they are likely to spend heavily to support him.
A three-way race in NC between Marshall, Cunningham, and Lewis could strain their own individual funds and then they could be faced with less national money.

Why won't the DSCC support Elaine Marshall?
Submitted by locallinda on Fri, 11/13/2009 - 2:24pmWhy won't the DSCC support Elaine Marshall for U.S. Senate? Things have changed a lot here in NC since she last ran for national office in 2002. Who would have guessed that "Blue NC" would be true? That a black community organizer with the middle name ... would win in North Carolina? Or that our governor and one of our senators would be a woman?
Elaine is a terrific speaker, smart as they come, warm, funny, and much more in touch with the Democratic pulse. She's well known in the grassroots community, which will do major legwork to get people to the polls. Her experience as Secretary of State should help attract moderate Republicans (both of them) and many unaffiliated voters.
I don't want to have to pick between Burr and Burr Lite next November.
