I was pleasantly surprised to learn about this week's national recognition of my publicly-financed campaign for NC Insurance Commissioner. Here is the link to this week's profile.

On that subject, here is additional information for interested persons.

In an article in "Politics magazine" Marty Ryall, campaign manager for Elizabeth Dole's ill-faithed US Senate campaign, explains why they ran the now infamous "godless" ad.

There was a time not so long ago (say, last year) that some Democratic party consultants and “leaders” still clung to the belief that gay issues were too toxic for the Democratic party to touch in The Old North State.

While this myth has been crumbling for years, the 2008 elections finally swept away any remaining shred of this falsehood.

Progressive blogging convention Netroots Nation '08 provided an awesome panel discussion on creating political community around film, featuring some megawatt all-stars who've done exactly that: Wendy Cohen of Participant Media, Jim Gilliam of Brave New Films, Jacob Soboroff of "Why Tuesday?", and Tracy Fleischman of Live from Main Street.

If you're in the Cary area tomorrow (August 9), you have the opportunity to see me put my Netroots Nation money where my mouth is as Galaxy Cinema in Cary hosts a screening of the documentary "Senator Obama Goes to Africa," a postfilm discussion with Obama campaign staffers, and a big voter-registration drive based out of the theater lobby.

Fifty-five thousand state employees stand up and support Wayne Goodwin's campaign for NC Insurance Commissioner.

That's all. That's all I had to say. Let that sink in. There are 257,000 new registered voters in this state since January and only 17,000 of them registered as Republicans.

Wow. Warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it?

Here is a brief update on my campaign for Insurance Commissioner campaign. I'll be providing more occasional updates as time goes by. Starting in mid-May, nonpartisan, political and insurance industry organizations have all been hosting or scheduling fora or informal debates for voters to meet the candidates for Insurance Commissioner.
