Burr vs. Marshall: Let’s start with a little credit

X-Posted from CitizenWill.org

I generally don't say much on CitizenWill about Federal officeholders but since there's been a lot of blather about Elaine Marshall's chances of overcoming Richard Burr I thought I would submit one way she can challenge Burr's reputation of supporting our troops.

Elaine, as part of her Senate campaign, started a petition calling on Burr to support a Consumer Finance Protection Agency.

Burr, so far, and his Republican colleagues have been less than supportive (to put it mildly) of the initiative.

Meeting the Needs of Our Servicemembers, Veterans and Military Families

By Jason Forrester

In 2007, then-Senator Barack Obama worked with VFA to introduce and pass Senate Bill 1271, which mandated a study on the readjustment needs of members of our military. Veterans For America is working with the Institute of Medicine (IOM) on the completion of this study that seeks to find out more about the mental and physical health of veterans and active duty members serving in Iraq, as well as their families.

The IOM's Committee to Assess the Readjustment Needs of Military Personnel, Veterans, and their Families will hold public town-hall meetings from 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday, June 2 in both Jacksonville, NC and Fayetteville, NC.

The town hall meetings will be held at the American Legion Post 202, 84 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville (MAP), and at American Legion Post 265, 146 Broadhurst Road in Jacksonville (MAP).

Props to Hamp

Until today, I've been singularly unimpressed with Hampton Dellinger as a candidate for Lt. Governor. With grass-roots heroes like Pat Smathers and true progressives like Dan Besse in the race, Mr. Dellinger seemed a little too much a part of the machine, a little too slick, and just didn't set himself apart. Not in the race, at least for me. Until today.

Hamp (I'm going to take the liberty of calling him Hamp)added a Kid's Page to his website. Very Smart. Read more below the fold.
