I just received the Press Release regarding a Health Reform Town Hall for citizens of Franklin, Granville, Vance, and Warren Counties that has been scheduled for 7/23/09. I have included the exact text of the Press Release below for everyone to see. I am absolutely thrilled that we will be having this Health Reform Town Hall in my area and hope to see as many people there as possible. Please remember that the only way we will get a Health Reform package that really corrects the problems with our current health care system and that covers everyone is to have as many voices as possible sharing their stories and voicing their opinions.

President Barack Obama’s Healthcare Plan

Another one bites the dust. Franklin County Republican Commissioner Harry Foy has been arrested in Dare County on drug and assault charges according to a News and Observer story.

Franklin County leader faces multiple charges

Harry Foy is charged with one count of assault on a female, possessing less than half an once of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Dare County Sheriff Rodney Midgett.

Twenty-two NC Democrats from the House and Senate sent a letter to Attorney General Roy Cooper asking him "to investigate credible allegations that Aero contractors conspired to commit federal crimes and then provided material support to the commission of those crimes on property owned by the state of North Carolina."

Mountain Xpress: "Aero Contractors, is under scrutiny for its alleged role in the CIA’s so-called “torture flights,” wherein terrorist suspects are kidnapped and secretly shuttled off to be interrogated in other countries."

Franklin County Republicans' website responded by attacking Franklin County's Doug Berger (D),

"These so-called individuals, as Berger and his liberal cohorts call them, are terrorists who think nothing of killing as many Americans as possible. Since Berger is too busy worrying about the poor terrorists' rights, they can call his hurtline: 919-715-8363 or e-mail Dougb@ncleg.net," Edwards said. "Terrorists and taxes are his favorite words. Berger is a disgrace. Period."
