General Election
Handy polling place locator link:
Submitted by KatyMunger on Mon, 11/01/2010 - 9:33amhey all -- if you are helping to Get Out The Vote and need a handy tool for verifying for people where they should go to vote, here's a nifty search engine that's a lot easier to use than the SBOE one. As a bonus, you can give people directions as well: http://www.democracy-nc.org/wheredoIvote.html
We've also updated our GOTV virtual postcard so you can use it to remind people to vote tomorrow. It includes the above link and some really handy Voter Rights links, etc: http://www.democracy-nc.org/timetovote.html

Time is Ticking: Time to Either Put Up or...That Other Thing
Submitted by Phillip Gilfus on Wed, 12/09/2009 - 10:42pmSixty-one days.
In sixty-one days, the filing period will begin for races including the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House, the state Senate, the state House, county commissioners, and other public offices in this great state of North Carolina.
On Feb. 8, county Board of Elections, from Murphy to Manteo, will open up their doors for business...and who will dare to walk in? From the 8th to the 26th of February, there is a window to help shape the communities we all live in. All the blog posts, 30-second ads, and fundraisers in the world will not change the fact that, during those days, filling out a piece of paper and paying a fee is all that one individual has to do to change our democracy.

why the Edwards 'scandal' has resurfaced
Submitted by wade norris on Mon, 07/28/2008 - 11:32pmNo need for qualifiers here folks, I have been a pit bull for Edwards from the start of my blogging on KOS.
But after reading this tripe on Huffpo, and hearing all the rumors of VP choices who are, at best, conservative democrats, and at worst a registered Republican, I no longer can stay silent. I owe my activism in almost every way to John Edwards - from my support of him in 1998, to my move to Colorado in 2000 to fight Tancredo (when Gore could have picked Edwards, but instead, went with Lieberman - what might have been?) to my work on Kerry-Edwards and this past year. I even wrote this
Now, I have been working dutifully for someone whom I truly believe in, Barack Obama, since Edwards dropped out and am working daily 6 and 7 days a week for him. But I must defend someone who inspired me first, Senator John Edwards. Now ask yourself, Why do they attack a non-candidate?
read on to find out the reason...

Obama to Run Ads in North Carolina
Submitted by NCDem Amy on Thu, 06/19/2008 - 12:29pmBarack Obama kicked off his General Election campaign in North Carolina and will begin running his first general election ad in the state beginning Friday, June 20th. North Carolina, Alaska, Georgia, North Dakota and Montana are among the list of GOP stronghold states in which the ad is set to run in addition to airing in traditional battleground states.
The ad which will run in 18 states, clearly aims to emphasize Obama's humble roots, work ethic and love of country.

REGISTER VOTERS FOR OBAMA IN BURLINGTON, 06/07/08
Submitted by jd79 on Wed, 06/04/2008 - 8:16amWe are registering voters for Obama in Burlington this Saturday. Everyone is invited--we would love to have people from Burlington, of course, but also anyone from neighboring counties (Orange, Guilford, Chatham, Caswell, Randolph, Rockingham). We will be meeting at 1PM in front of the Burlington Obama HQ (113 East Front Street) and take our group from there into the community. This is a great opportunity to jump start the general election in North Carolina!
