Kay Hagan--Tax Avoidance by Corporate Profits Repatriation-She has a little bill
Submitted by wafranklin on Mon, 10/10/2011 - 9:42pmI did not see any mention of Kay Hagan working with McClain in Senate on bill to repatriate some trillions of corporate profits stranded offshore at some ridiculously low (5%?) rate. Check N&O last Friday, Oct 7, 2011. She waxes righteous about making sure that if companies do not comply with concurrent jobs creation part of the bill, we could clawback some of the money. Now, for starters that is sheer horse pooky. The Obama Justice Dpt has not managed to enforce anything of value or pursue massive leads from the financial sector. The SEC is piddling in place, as is the FDIC, OCC and all the other underfunded watchdogs.
Kay is frankly a Republican, disguised as a Blue Dog, and secure in her seat until 2014, when as result of this play, she will be showered with corporate plunder randomly by all. Her arguments are of the caliber one would expect from a fourth grader, not a legislator, attorney and ex-banker (oops, that is the real problem).

DSCC Money: What is the effect of today's announcements?
Submitted by oldwellblue on Wed, 01/06/2010 - 3:57pmFrom Rob Christensen’s article in November regarding the DSCC’s influence in Senate races:
“The Etheridge decision underscores the importance of the national parties in Senate races. In some ways, the DSCC has become a kingmaker in Senate politics. Their decision to get behind state Sen. Kay Hagan last year, spending $11.5 million on her behalf, was critical in her defeat of Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole.”
I think the announcements today from Sens. Dodd and Dorgan may put a strain on the DSCC's ability to pump $11 to $12 million in support of a single candidate. It looks like they will need to spend at least some money in Connecticut and North Dakota may be as difficult as North Carolina. If the DSCC gets behind a contender like Ed Schultz (link) then they are likely to spend heavily to support him.
A three-way race in NC between Marshall, Cunningham, and Lewis could strain their own individual funds and then they could be faced with less national money.

Federal Reserve Transparancy Act
Submitted by Dr. Quigley on Tue, 09/22/2009 - 9:57amhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Transparency_Act
So far only two NC Democratic representatives have cosponsored this legislation, and Hagan has yet to co-sponsor the Senate bill.
It's just shameful to see Republicans dominating this issue when really it is Democrats who proclaim to be champions of transparency and regulation for out-of-control financial institutions.
This is the kind of legislation that everyone should be supporting. It was introduced in the House by Ron Paul, and has over 290 cosponsors. All Republicans have signed on, along with many Democrats.
The Senate bill is currently standing at 27 cosponsors, and was introduced by the progressive/socialist Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Yeah, a bill introduced by a an avowed socialist has been cosponsored by Burr but not Hagan. What the heck?

Celebrate with a Few Fireworks for Senator Hagan
Submitted by nvsw on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 8:27pmIn light of at least three full page ads this week in the N&O by NC Big Pharma companies opposing any public option in health care, along with today’s news about the dismal job loss report,( which, of course, means more people losing medical insurance), it is truly a ray of hope that our wavering Senator Kay Hagan has finally taken a decisive public stand in favor of said option.
( Link to the story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/02/kay-hagan-key-senate-demo_n_225... )
It’s about time. As an independent who not only voted for Hagan, but actually sent her campaign a few bucks, I would have expected her to take a leading role in advocating for healthcare as an inalienable right of every American citizen, as a part of the common good of being a member of this nation.

Kay Hagan, Obstructionist?
Submitted by RaulEOchs on Mon, 06/29/2009 - 5:54amSenator Hagan is becoming well known as an obstructionist on health care reform.
According to the Daily Kos,
Kay Hagan is turning out to be the obstructionist on the Senate HELP Committee on a public option. She's now stating her opposition to it publicly.
A pity. NC families need a public option that competes directly with insurance companies to lower cost and improve quality of care and access, that is similar to medicare, and that is not delayed or diluted with a 'trigger'.

Take a look at this...2009 Federal Employees Health Benefits Programs
Submitted by Stan on Thu, 06/18/2009 - 7:10pmHere's a link to the most expensive Federal Health care plan and a comparison to two United HealthCare plans that are better than most.
Here's the LINK to premiums for all the plans.
Do your own investigating and you'll find that the coverage is good and WAY cheaper than anything we can buy. The SAMBA plan includes unlimited prescription drug coverage and is @ half the cost of what my wife and I pay.
Why can't our elected representatives give us what they and other federal employees have?
Kay Hagan and all the rest who oppose a public option are simply screwing us. Why? that's the real question. I'd like to know. How about you?

Kay Hagan one of the Dem Senators stymying health care public option
Submitted by Stan on Wed, 06/17/2009 - 3:56pmI've not much to say except to point you to this diary by NYCEVE on DKos. I am stunned that Senator Hagan would take this stance. I called Hagan's office and whoever answered said Senator Hagan hadn't yet decided whether or not to support a public option.

Dance with them what brung you (to the Senate)
Submitted by wafranklin on Thu, 04/02/2009 - 10:00pmHere are a set of contributions to Kay Hagan from OpenSecrets. The essence of this is: Kay was paid a lot from Democratic/liberal sources for her to now begin maneuvering to center-center thinking to make points with Republicans for cross-over "bipartisanship"? She forgets perhaps the shabby and harsh treatment of Democrats, no matter how well deserved, by Republicans for the past 10 years. Treatment which helped cause our current economic and political woes.
