Ken Lewis

Gov. Ken Lewis?

While it seems like Erskine Bowles is the Dem establishment darling I'm looking for folks who will chart a new course.

I've liked Brad Miller for years and think he would have the moxie to take on the challenge in a progressive manner.

Bill Faison has been working hard on jobs policy and deserves a closer look.

And now former US Senate candidate Ken Lewis looks like he's considering a run.

He just tweeted the following:

Rapidly changing NC politics. With change there is opportunity for progress. Lots to think about. What do you think? Under the Dome

He certainly charted a different course in the Senate race, what do folks think of his chances?

And with Ken thinking about a run, does that mean other former US Senate candidate Jim Neal is far behind?

HUGE SURGE: Burr 44% Marshall 43%

I wasn’t planning on blogging today, but…wow!

In just a month, our campaign has surged +13% according to Rasmussen’s monthly tracking poll. Now the race is statistically tied and we are on our way to retiring Richard Burr – one of Wall Street’s most reliable United States Senators!

Now is the time to strike: a highly critical fundraising deadline is coming up on Wednesday.

Help us raise $75,000 online by chipping in $5 or more today!

NC-Sen: Unity

I took the liberty of putting together a quick slideshow of some of the photos from yesterday's unity rally at the NCDP HQ. GOP leaders like perpetually dissatisfied restaurant customer Michael Steele, have tried to spin that Democrats are deeply divided, but nothing could be further from the truth...

Thank you Cal Cunningham.

Thank you Ken Lewis.

Now, let's go beat Burr:

I'm proud to work for Elaine Marshall!

BIG: Durham Mayor Bill Bell Stands with Elaine Marshall!

william_bellElaine Marshall has won two HUGE victories in the battle for the Durham vote today.

Durham Mayor Bill Bell and the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People announced they were both supporting Elaine's campaign today for U.S. Senate. Both candidates in the runoff election have focused heavily on Durham -- Elaine placed second in the primary behind Ken Lewis, who is now her Campaign Chairman, and these latest endorsements highlight the momentum our campaign has.

It is time for us to unite behind Elaine Marshall. In my opinion Marshall's better suited to beat Burr, and she's proven that she's ready to stand up and fight for the people of North Carolina. -- Mayor Bell

NC-Sen: Ken Lewis Named Marshall Campaign Chair

Ken Lewis announced this morning that he'll be taking an active role in Elaine Marshall's campaign for U.S. Senate. Ken will help to educate voters about the importance of the election and work to unify Democrats around Elaine Marshall.

“I’ll be working hard this next month and until November to get Elaine Marshall to the U.S. Senate and to reclaim this seat for the people of North Carolina.”

NC-Sen: Ken Lewis Backs Elaine Marshall

n97128081749_6890On the steps of the state capital, former U.S. Senate candidate Ken Lewis threw his enthusiastic and full support behind Secretary of State Elaine Marshall in the North Carolina Senate race. Ken placed third in the May primary and his endorsement gives Elaine every bit of momentum going toward the June 22nd runoff.

"Elaine's work as Secretary of State and her historic electoral victories make her the strongest candidate in this run-off and in the general election. On the campaign trail she is tough, smart, and one of the hardest working candidates I've ever seen."

-- Ken Lewis

Huh's prediction thread for the Senate primary

I say that Lewis, Harris, Worthy and Williams can't get a combined 20%. If they can't then there is no runoff. Marshall 44%, Cunningham 38%

Anyone else care to venture a guess?

On Ken Lewis: From the heart

I shot this video last Thursday but, well, been a little busy. So here it is. A few minutes on why I believe so strongly and passionately in Ken Lewis.

One thing I love about politics is the passion it invokes. I know many of you in other Senate campaigns have demonstrated great passion for your respective candidates. This is a demonstration of my commitment and passion for Ken - someone who I have come to know, admire, and respect over the last few months.

Remember on Tuesday that its more than just a vote, its an expression of your vision for the future of North Carolina.

I hope that vision includes the progress oriented leadership of 'Senator' Ken Lewis.

US Senate Race - Don't be fooled

I trust that North Carolinians will not be fooled in this Primary Election on Tuesday, May 4th.

I just can't get behind this Cal Cunningham thing - AT ALL. I went to UNC and graduated the same year as Mr. Cunningham so we should have a natural connection, but I am so unimpressed. He is a calculated politician that will not and has not stood up for the little people in NC. He has shown this through his "service" so far. He has not made one bold move to benefit working folks and people who want to get back to work in this state. It is all about his career progression.

Is it crazy to anyone else the the Sierra Club endorsed a candidate running around the state in an 18 wheeler?

Ken is Speaking Truth to Power

Ken Lewis, a progressive candidate running for the Democratic nomination to defeat Sen. Richard Burr, has called upon the members of the North Carolina Banking Commission to be accountable for their approval of bank bonuses in 2009.

As our economy collapsed, in large part due to the irresponsibility of banks and bank regulators, the NC Banking Commission approved massive cash bonuses for industry executives. Only because of leadership from the North Carolina General Assembly were those who lead our economy off a cliff not rewarded for doing so.

Cal Cunningham has sought to escape accountability for his vote to approve bonuses for bankers. Both he and his senior strategist Scott Falmlen are members of the NC Banking Commission. Not only was Cunningham present on the call, his senior strategist was the first to move for approval of the bonuses.
