Submitted by NCFarmTeam on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 2:45pmPlease recommend on DailyKos
Early voting starts in NC tomorrow. Please pitch in & help us beat some terrible incumbents in North Carolina!
Kennedy vs. Foxx (NC-05)
As the Winston-Salem Journal noted when they endorsed Democrat Billy Kennedy,
U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx ... has not achieved any great accomplishments for the residents of the 5th Congressional District.
Well, she just lost her most recent debate as well ...

Submitted by Elaine Marshall on Mon, 10/11/2010 - 9:09amYou did it! Because of great supporters like you, we were able to launch our first TV ad of the general election this weekend. Rather than hiring paid actors like Senator Burr, I decided to talk directly to voters. Take a look.

Grassroots Farm Team Update - 09.14.10
Submitted by NCFarmTeam on Tue, 09/14/2010 - 3:42pmQuick Hits:
- Bill Ferguson is a 27-year-old Davidson Graduate running for the Maryland State Senate (District 46). He recently won the endorsement of the Baltimore Sun and faces his primary election today. He is a Teach for America veteran and well-versed in education policy. He's been doing some serious fundraising, and has a real chance in this election. Maryland voters are looking for a change, and we wish the best of luck to Bill!
- Patsy Keever beat Bruce Goforth in the May primary, and gets sworn in to fill out the remainder of his term tomorrow. She's also been showing us the love on twitter!
- Jenna Wadsworth also had nice things to say on Facebook: "proud to receive the endorsement of the Grassroots Farm Team!"
- This week, the Grassroots Farm Team goes to New York to film a campaign video that we'll be using for our MarshallBomb. Go Elaine Go!

Don't let Richard Burr become the Ranking Republican on the Energy Committee
Submitted by Oliver Queen on Fri, 09/03/2010 - 7:22amWith the defeat of Senator Lisa Murkowski in Alaska, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) is poised to become the top Republican on the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources at the start of the 112th Congress. There are many reasons why this development is troublesome, not the least of which is Senator Burr's irresponsible record on nuclear issues (which are under the committee's purview). In short, Burr was the brains behind a law that hindered American non-proliferation efforts and nuclear security. Because of this, Elaine Marshall needs your help retiring Richard Burr.

NC-Sen: League of Conservation Voters back Elaine Marshall
Submitted by Elaine Marshall on Thu, 08/19/2010 - 12:24pm
Citing Elaine's commitment to "sound environmental policies," the League of Conservation Voters has announced their endorsement of our campaign.
From their announcement press release:
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Elaine Marshall for U.S. Senate because she understands that the policies needed to grow North Carolina’s economy and keep America’s competitive edge are the same policies that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb harmful carbon pollution,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Elaine Marshall will work in Congress to enact common-sense energy policies that create jobs in North Carolina while ensuring that America leads the 21st century’s clean energy economy.”
This is another big endorsement that adds to Elaine's growing coalition of voters in North Carolina.

NC Sen: We’re not uninformed, Senator.
Submitted by cyndiannp on Fri, 08/13/2010 - 10:15am(Cross-posted from Daily Kos)
So as part of Senator Burr's whitewashing of his record, his latest remark in the Asheville Citizen Times takes it to a new level, you could even call it a bald faced lie. A recent letter to the editor slammed Senator Burr for blocking unemployment benefits, and this week Senator Burr responded by calling the writer ‘uninformed’ about his stance on the issue:
SENATOR BURR, Asheville Citizen Times Letter to the Editor: "He is uninformed as to my support for extending unemployment benefits…I think everyone agrees that we should extend unemployment benefits.”
Senator Burr wants us to think he’s supported the unemployment extension all along, but like most statements of his, again nothing could be farther from the truth.

I would welcome President Obama to North Carolina
Submitted by Elaine Marshall on Fri, 08/06/2010 - 1:35pmSam Stein's post on Huffington Post calls into question whether or not I'd like to see the President come to North Carolina. The post is well intentioned, I am sure, but my comments are taken a bit of context and blown up to a bigger story. The truth is:
I would welcome President Obama to North Carolina.
I would take the opportunity to thank him for endorsing legislation that would help small businesses and save 4,500 teacher jobs in North Carolina. I would also speak with him about ending the War in Afghanistan, and how Washington as a whole isn't responding to the needs of ordinary Americans.
