Tuesday Twitter roundup

We'll start out with the meme of the week:

Jerry Tillman‏@jerrytillman Free stuff or Freedom. Pick one. You can’t have both. #ncpol

Says the man who's pulling in a retirement check as a former school administrator, and has pulled in close to a half-mil in campaign contributions from his other public job. But that's different...

Tuesday Twitter roundup

We'll start with this one:

RT @beckigray: Long and testy debate winds up on s382, passes #NCGA House 70-47 Urban development area water/sewer service and delay of Jordan lake rules

Just a reminder, so when Federal fines start rolling in, the boneheads in the General Assembly won't be caught completely by surprise: The Jordan Lake Rules aren't some regulations dreamed up by local Triangle lakefront property owners. They are Federally-mandated remediation measures to protect a reservoir that hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians depend on. The days of kicking this can down the road are over. This particular can will start kicking back, and soon.

Tuesday Twitter roundup

Apparently culinary incidents are on the rise:

Stop Restaurant Homicide! @SenatorBerger & @MyNCSenate Stop playing cynical games. PASS RESTAURANT CARRY NOW! #GRNC #NCPOL #NCGA

Granted, a few times when I wanted a booth but got a table (I like to hide from people) I was a little miffed, but I don't recall any homicidal thoughts. Maybe I just haven't been eating in the right (or wrong, I should say) places.

People are voting - Farm Team round up

Early vote is well underway and we just wanted to give a brief update of what’s been going on and let you know about some of the great young candidates out there.

Obama-Fallon-UNC
If you missed it, check out President Obama's appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show, filmed on UNC's campus! He gave a policy speech on student loans and the mounting debt that the Republicans want to make worse.

Early voting in Orange County

In fall 2010, more than 900,000 people voted prior to Election Day in North Carolina. Our state currently allows local counties to provide early voting sites for periods up to three weeks before Election Day. Here in Orange County, early voting is particularly popular. On the final days of early voting in 2010, the line at Morehead Planetarium snaked through the planetarium, down the stairs and across the quad as professors, residents and students lined up to vote.

The bad bills keep on coming, this time from a Democrat.
