Newsweek: When made aware of details, Americans support most proposed Democratic health insurance reforms

I found this recent article from Newsweek rather telling. In sum, it asserts that Americans - when made aware of the details of the Democratic Party's proposed health insurance reforms - show significant support for most individual pieces of the package. This is intriguing when those same persons, before they are educated about the components, are fire-hot opposed to the reform package as a whole. Apparently, the Tea Party folks and some insurance corporate types and some Republicans (those who'll vote for anything that builds up corporate persons while tearing down actual breathing persons) have won the battle over handling public relations on this issue ... but not the war, whose outcome is yet to be determined. Stay tuned.

Support the Troops by Demanding Better Veteran Care!

I just read this heartbreaking article in Newsweek about veteran care (or lack thereof) by the Veterans Administration. As the former wife of a Vietnam veteran, I know the difficulty he went through when trying to obtain benefits; he was told that he was classified as a "peacetime" veteran because he served in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer, even though he saw plenty of combat. I'm hoping that presidential candidates like mine will make this a topic at the forefront of their campaigns; in the meantime, I urge you to send this link with a note to your senator and representative demanding immediate action on this issue if they expect your vote the next time around. That's what "Support the Troops" REALLY means!

Let's Talk About Sex

Let's talk about sex. Or, better yet, let's pay attention as the experts talk about sex.

As a mother of two lovely preteen/teen daughters, (who incidentally will never have a date if they keep telling every boy they meet just how stupid they think they are!) I read the article in last week's Newsweek titled "Girls Gone Bad" with a great deal of interest.

Several paragraphs in, I thought, "they should have interviewed Mrs. Anglico for this piece", and several paragraphs later I saw that they had.

More sex below the fold...
