Kathleen Parker supports the gang of 30
Submitted by ltss3yr2 on Sat, 10/24/2009 - 2:04pmKathleen Parker's op-ed piece today at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/23/AR200910... supporting the gang of 30 Republicans supporting no legal recourse for victims of rape defies all logic.
She says these senators were correct not to approve the amendment because it was "overbroad and might not be enforceable." Say what? The requirement in writing that legal recourse be denied a woman employee serving the government of the U.S. through its contracting authority can't be discovered to exist? And so, it's unenforceable to deny contracts to those requiring such employment conditions in writing?

Someone's Daughter Is Now A Hate Crime Survivor
Submitted by lomaprietaleigh on Tue, 12/23/2008 - 8:57amUpdated 12/27 to add fund information below.
I had trouble sleeping last night after what I read. A horrific hate crime was visited last week upon an openly gay woman in Richmond, California.
Police believe the woman was targeted due to the suspects' anti-gay bias. The victim got out of her car to visit a friend, and was attacked and raped by a multi-ethnic posse of hate-filled men.
Why do I mention multi-ethnic? Simply because I find it interesting how last week's hate crime victim may be this week's hate crime perpetrator. That victim could be any of us. A sister, a neighbor, a daughter.

Conf Call Today Tuesday at 4pm Re: McCain Fundraiser
Submitted by Jerimee on Tue, 06/17/2008 - 12:09pmWomen Leaders To Hold Conference Call on McCain's Refusal To Cut Ties With Fundraiser Clayton Williams
Texas State Senator Leticia Van de Putte and former Chair of the Texas Democratic Party Molly Beth Malcolm will hold a conference call today, Tuesday, June 17th, at 4 pm EDT/3 pm CDT to discuss John McCain's refusal to denounce offensive and misogynist comments made by McCain campaign fundraiser Clayton Williams or return the $300,000 Williams raised on McCain's behalf. Williams stirred controversy during his run for governor of Texas in 1990 when he compared rape to the weather, saying that "As long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it…" Van de Putte and Malcom will also discuss why Senator McCain is bad for women and how he doesn't understand the issues American women face. Young Republicans National Chair Accused of Sexual Misconduct, Steps Down
Submitted by Jerimee on Wed, 08/08/2007 - 11:52amfrom takingdownwords.com
Newly elected Young Republican National Federation Chair Glenn Murphy is under investigation for criminal deviate conduct, a Class B felony, for allegedly engaging in oral sex with a sleeping victim. This is not his first run-in with the law for this kind of offense.
Read the investigative report and a prior arrest for sexual battery in 1998 here: glennmurphy.pdf
WARNING: This is some pretty graphic stuff. Don't let the kiddies read it.
Murphy recently sent an e-mail telling friends in Florida about his decision to resign from the YRNF position for business reasons.
