A BIG, FAT THANK YOU
Submitted by crowbar317 on Wed, 11/08/2006 - 11:35pmDear BlueNC,
I was probably one of the first Sharpe supporters to blog on BlueNC. It all started when Lance graciously agreed to interview Roger for the site. After that, you guys came out with barrels blazing, even as Kissell was at the front of your minds.
You could have ignored the Sharpe campaign. Hell, everybody else did. Instead, you chose to help us out all the way. When you gave ten bucks to Kissell, you made sure to send a few our way. You kept our race front-paged when everyone else cast us to the curb.
Does this sound like a victory speech? Well, in a way it is. Roger Sharpe ran the good race. He pounded the pavement day after day with an all volunteers staff, against an incumbent in a very red district who had a multi-million dollar war chest against under $100,000, and we still came within 25,000 votes of victory.

They escaped from their pens again!
Submitted by stormbear on Mon, 11/06/2006 - 9:10amWhile canvassing for Roger Sharpe I met a lot of either simple-minded people or people in abject denial. All of them - every last single one that is voting for Virginia Foxx is doing so because she visited their church. That is it. When I start talking about her voting record they start jabber-jawing about “the liberal media” and other Limbaugh talking points.
This is not meant to be a slam against Christianity, but the big question - does being a fundamentalist Christian make you more gullible?
It is just not Virginia Foxx that has pulled this off, I offer Exhibit A - George W. Bush.

UPDATE NC-05: Reporters Banned From Debate
Submitted by stormbear on Wed, 11/01/2006 - 2:35pmCrossposted at dKos and MyDD. Please recommend and comment.
Today Virginia Foxx is supposed to debate Roger Sharpe. It will be taped. No reporters will be present. It will only be broadcast late Sunday night at 10:30pm. It will be broadcast form a TV station that is not even located in the district and has only 10% signal coverage of the district in question.
This is the face of the Virginia Foxx democracy - unanswerable to the public.
Today, the Winston-Salem Journal is reporting on the details which are more akin to Soviet era propaganda than American democracy.

NC-05: Foxx Bans Reporters From Debate
Submitted by stormbear on Tue, 10/31/2006 - 11:37amI bumped this because it seems like just the kind of negative press Virginia Foxx deserves ONE week before the election. Write an LTE if you live in the area. Get this on the front pages. "What is Virginia Foxx hiding?" - RP
Meet Roger Sharpe

In a move that can only be classified as classic ass-hattery, Virginia Foxx is REFUSING to debate Democratic opponent Roger Sharpe unless reporters are BANNED from the taping.

Meet Roger Sharpe

According to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Virginia Foxx (R) received a D for her lack of support for active military and veterans. Her voting record shows great lapses in judgement with her votes against...

NC-05: Voices of the District

Roger Sharpe has once again proven the power of the netroots, or maybe just showing the people what an actual ethical person looks like is the real trick. Either way, the people of the 5th District has been vocal about Roger Sharpe and their hopes for a return to old-fashioned America. You know, the one we had in 1999 - the good ol' days of free speech and a land where torture at the hands of the American Government was an idea so outlandish it would have been laughed at.
Here is a collection of opinions of the citizens of the 5th District from the red-leaning Winston-Salem Journal.

Make a Point. Make it Sharpe.
Submitted by Mark Hufford on Wed, 10/25/2006 - 3:03amMeet Roger Sharpe in this short video.
If your neighbor’s house were destroyed, what would you do? Seriously. Of course you would provide food or clothing or money or whatever was needed.
When Hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf, most of us watched on TV, shocked and embarrassed that our government was doing nothing. Roger Sharpe got in his car and drove to Mississippi and rolled up his sleeves. He considered Mississippians his neighbors because they’re part of the American community.
In this second short video, see how the experience affected him.
Now Roger is running for Congress and it’s our turn for action. In Washington, he’ll represent the best of each of us -- the part that would get in the car and drive to Mississippi.

NC-05: Roger Sharpe and $20 Tuesday
Submitted by stormbear on Tue, 10/24/2006 - 8:37amCrossposted on Daily Kos and MyDD

Last week, we asked for $10. $10 a piece is what we needed to plant campaign signs all over Wilkes County and fuel out GOTV movement.
Now we are in crunch time. Our campaign's message is more crucial now and our ability to get that message of justice, ethics and common sense is vital to winning in the 5th District. Here's why.
