Thinking outside the ammo box

A provocative thought experiment from a new friend, David Work, Executive Director Emeritus of The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
Whenever a bizarre killing occurs from gunshots such as the recent events producing two deaths and a wounded physician at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, we see predictable comments in the media. One group claims that more gun control laws are needed and the other says that guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
Wrong! Bullets kill people.
If we treated ammunition with just the same kind of restrictions that apply to legitimate Controlled Substances or Prescription Drugs, I believe the number of deaths due to gunshots in this country would be greatly reduced. A federal requirement that all ammunition must be ordered in writing with a specific quantity by a licensed Physician would certainly put a stop to mentally distressed people such as Paul Pardusin in Baltimore obtaining easy access to bullets. This kind of provision also would have intercepted the killers at Columbine High School in Denver.

Crazy Comes to North Carolina's 8th
Submitted by Travis Crayton on Fri, 02/12/2010 - 6:09pmCross-posted from a post at Proverbially Penned.
Freshman congressman Larry Kissell has drawn his first official challenger in the form of Tim D'Annunzio, who, it appears, is also acting as a tea-party candidate within the GOP. D'Annunzio did a fantastic job, as CQ Politics reports, of garnering free media attention by holding fundraisers appealing to the crazier individuals among us. D'Annunzio decided a $25 a plate dinner of North Carolina barbeque and sweet tea just wasn't enough to get people excited about his campaign. So he decided to let his supporters come out, enjoy a good meal, and shoot an Uzi or an MP-5 submachine gun.
No, I'm not kidding; he seriously did this:
But wait! There's more. Not only is D'Annunzio running for Congress, he's also acting as if he is the savior of the GOP. More after the break...

Weapons Wednesday
Submitted by James on Wed, 09/30/2009 - 12:19pmHold on to your hats, kiddies. If my reading of the tea leaves in the US Supreme Court is correct, you'll soon be able to buy your very own hand-grenades, rocket launchers, tanks, etc., etc. A good time to invest in the arms dealing businesses (pawn shops) around Jacksonville and Fort Bragg.
'A well-regulated Militia, being necessary for the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'
I'm starting my own militia, which of course will be well regulated by me, and my militia needs a cruise missile. I'm counting on the Supremes to fufill my Erik Prince fantasies.
