Tim D'Annunzio

D'Annunzio Meltdown...

D'Annunzio lost, I'll bet to Larry Kissell's chagrin because now he'll have a true race with a significant candidate in Harold Johnson. Johnson, a former sportscaster was also the hand-picked candidate by none other than "Not Gay" Tom Fetzer.

Prior to the election, D'Annunzio was given more than an hour on a live radio broadcast where he did a live melt-down!

"If we let deranged, demented people like you choose who we have for politicians, we'll continue to have dunces and political hacks from here into the future," D'Annunzio charged. "If people wake up and see through you and your types then maybe we'll wind up with people who have the balls to get up there and really fight for what the people need."

8th District electoral craziness

The Prophet Tim sues his opponent for blasphemy:

Flanked by lawyers, Harold Johnson on Tuesday denounced a lawsuit by rival Tim D'Annunzio as "embarrassing and frivolous" as the war of words between the two Republican congressional candidates continued to escalate.

D'Annunzio sued Johnson for defamation Monday in Cumberland County Superior Court.

And it looks like D'Annunzio is bringing his fight to the comments section again:

Another kind of crazy

Hi God.

You've no doubt been keeping up with the campaign in NC-8 to unseat Larry Kissell, what with Tim D'Annunzio, one of your most devoted servants, in the race. Today I learned that Tim is planning to sue the devil out of his opponent Harry Johnson (what a name!) for telling so-called lies about his so called past.

Holy mackerel. Where in heaven's name do you come up with these people?

The crazy never stops

The Rand Paul litmus test

Senator Burr could have defined himself as a Republican moderate, instead he embraced right wing extremism by paling around with the likes of Art Pope and Tim D'Annunzio and by announcing that it is impossible to "for any candidate to get to the right of me."

Fetzer bashes D'Annunzio

The not-gay leader of the GOP freaks out a little:

Republican Party leaders have escalated an unprecedented campaign against one of their own congressional candidates, with N.C. GOP chairman Tom Fetzer calling Tim D'Annunzio "unfit for public office at any level."

"What he could do to the party as our nominee is secondary in my view to what he could do to the country if he got elected. If he got elected, for crying out loud, that would be a disaster."

Read the rest of the article. It will blow your mind.

D'Annunzio hits $1 million for campaign

The false prophet giveth and receiveth:

Republican Tim D'Annunzio has crossed the $1 million mark in contributions and loans to his 8th District campaign.

The Hoke County businessman gave his campaign another $50,000 on April 29, bringing his total to just over $1 million, Jim Morrill of The Charlotte Observer reports.

I'm sure there's a lot at stake in this election, I just can't put my finger on it.

Burr joins D'Annunzio at gun rights gig

And you guessed it, Tim is sponsoring the event:

Organized by Grass Roots North Carolina* and sponsored by Tim D’Annunzio for Congress, GRNC’s ‘Second Amendment Symposium’ will now feature Alan Gura, Sen. Richard Burr, 8th
District Republican Tim D’Annunzio and Second Amendment Foundation president Joe Tartaro.

Senator Burr was elected to Congress in 1994 and to the U.S. Senate in 2004. His perfect 100% pro-gun voting record and long history of sponsoring Second Amendment legislation earned Grass Roots North Carolina’s highest 4-star evaluation. Most recently, Sen. Burr garnered national attention (and the wrath of the “Violence Policy Center”) by introducing the Veteran’s Second Amendment Protection Act.

A boatload of crazy

With one Republican congressional candidate out to punish Girl Scouts and another physically threatening a colleague, it looks like the NCGOP definitely has the corner on crazy this year. But it's too bad the focus is only on Republican challengers. You can be sure incumbents like little ol' Pat McHenry, pictured here, are loving guys like Tim D'Annunzio, ready-made distractions for the over-extended fourth estate.
