Will the US Senate confirm NC Judge Catherine Eagles?

The US Senate returns to work on Monday, September 13. At approx 5:30pm, the US Senate is scheduled to vote to confirm a judge from Tennessee to the Sixth Circuit.

As a North Carolinian, I want to ask Senators Richard Burr and Kay Hagan why Judge Catherine Eagles has not been scheduled for a confirmation vote. I want the media to ask Senators Burr and Hagan why Judge Eagles has been blocked from even a simple unanimous consent request.

Murkowski Part II Rears Its Ugly Head

On June 10th, we all celebrated the defeat of the Murkowski resolution, which would have gutted the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon dioxide pollution. Why we needed to defeat Murkowski was explained well by NRDC Action Fund Executive Director, Peter Lehner, who wrote the following prior to the vote:

Cal Cunningham on the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Progress

I wanted to share Cal Cunningham's recent statement on the hopeful, if not quite complete, progress being actively pursued on Capitol Hill towards the necessary repeal of the U.S. Military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

As anyone on BlueNC likely knows, I am a fervent Cunningham supporter and volunteer. But, as a member of PFLAG Winston-Salem and a long time champion of equality for all Americans, statements and a vision such as this one only reassures and validates my support of this great U.S. Senate candidate even further.

Well, This Certainly Speaks for Itself (Part Deux)

With all due respect to my friend, Oliver Queen, I - as a Cal Cunningham supporter - was certainly bouyed by these recent findings from our friends at Public Policy Polling. It appears that for all of the Facebook groups urging my guy to drop out, all of the anonymous Twitter attacks against him and the constant slaving over every comment I, or anyone else, posts here on BlueNC -- it appears that we do not sway voters in the droves we wish. Rather, it looks like Cal Cunningham does a much better job at that than any of us.

Turning the oil spill into a jobs bill

Think about this, what if this oil spill, as tragic as it is, provides us with the wake up call about how we power our world? My first thought when the spill happened was, what if we had not gotten rid of the electric car of the 1990's (from the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?) and electric cars had grown in usage for the past decade? Would the drilling platform catastrophe still have happened?
No one can be sure, but what we can be sure of, is that it will keep happening until we change our cars from gas/oil powered to electric powered.

That's why this petition is so important - the Gulf Oil Spill Electric Car Credit. It asks for legislation to give a substantial credit for purchasing an electric car, and it has key provisions to put a lot of people to work, immediately, in a midterm election year. But we need to get support for this idea in the US House and Senate. That's where you can help.

New PPP Senate poll

http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/
Tonight, Public Policy Polling released its latest poll of the North Carolina United States Senate Democratic primary. Marshall leads Cunningham 28-21 after leading him 26-23 last week. This change seems to be a result of Lewis' radio ad attacks on Cunningham combined with Marshall going on the air with television ads. What are the chances that the nomination is decided by a runoff and which candidate do you think would prevail if that happened?
