Grassroots Farm Team Update 09.15.10
Submitted by NCFarmTeam on Wed, 09/15/2010 - 3:26pmLast year, we hosted a special fundraiser for Vance-Aycock. For a competitive rate, we put up Vance-Aycock attendees in beautiful mountain housing, provided shuttle service to and from the event, and cooked a Sunday Breakfast! This year, we're doing it again - so that instead of going to a hotel, you can help elect the kind of Democrats we need in state government (no Aycocks). For more details, e-mail us at NCFarmTeam <:at:> gmail.com

Lots of Great Work for Democrats this Weekend
Submitted by NCFarmTeam on Fri, 10/02/2009 - 3:25pm
Get ready.
This weekend, the Grassroots Farm Team is in Asheville working to help young, exciting Democratic candidates. We are canvassing for Farm Team Prospect Gordon Smith and we're giving people attending the dinner a place to stay - complete with breakfast and shuttle service to and from the weekend's events.
We're getting closer to reaching our pre-primary fundrasing goal, and after the dinner we're going to announce a way for you to help get strong Democratic candidates past the primary on October 6 - even from the comfort of your home.
As always, if you’d like to help out, you can reach us at @NCFarmTeam on twitter, on our Facebook Fan Page, or by e-mail at NCFarmTeam <:at:> gmail.com.
If you'd like more information about getting a room for Vance-Aycock, or about canvassing for Gordon Smith this weekend, that's the best way to reach us.

We need to remove the Aycock name from our fundraising dinner
Submitted by TrueMeckDem on Thu, 09/03/2009 - 7:50pmfrom a couple different sources:
For most of the 20th century, Charles B. Aycock was treated by historians and North Carolina politicians as an admirable, almost saintly figure but often overlooked was Aycock's role as a leading spokesman in the white supremacy campaigns of 1898 and 1900, which historians say were marked by widespread violence, voter intimidation, voter fraud and even a coup d'etat of the government of Wilmington. ... The campaigns had far-reaching consequences: Blacks were removed from the voter rolls based on literacy tests which Aycock established as Governor, Jim Crow customs were encoded into law, and the Democratic Party controlled Tar Heel politics for two-thirds of the 20th century
Prior to his rise to the governorship, Aycock participated in the murderous Wilmington Insurrection of 1898, which proved to be the one and only coup d’etat in United States history

Vance-Aycock Decompression and The Scary Truth About Jim Neal
Submitted by Oliver Queen on Mon, 10/08/2007 - 3:06amI'll start with what you really came here for: the truth about Jim Neal. The site is boiling to the brim over the possibility of Rep. Martin running for the Senate, especially now that Sen. Hagan is out of the race (according to a few who could be counted on to know attending the Vance-Aycock dinner). So I'm sure you want the dirt on this Neal guy so that you can throw it back at him if Rep. Martin runs. Unfortunately for those who get their kicks from schadenfreude, Neal showed himself to be a nice, likable guy with a full-shoe operation.
