North Carolina Community College System
One of the (other) possible Veto overrides
Submitted by scharrison on Mon, 11/28/2011 - 11:57amTaking away Federal school loans for community college students:
Earlier in the year, Gov. Beverly Perdue vetoed a plan to take away federal student loan programs for students at community colleges in North Carolina. House Bill 7 would have allowed community colleges to opt out of the federal student loan program.
I brought this up back in January, but now I'd like for each of you to do a little research of your own: Take a look at the Trustees for your (local) community college, and see how many of them have connections to financial institutions.

Where's Tom? We got us some flames in need of fannin'.
Submitted by James on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 8:29amPinko commie bureaucrats in the UNC Community College System called yesterday for the year-old ban on illegal immigrant students to be lifted. Why hasn't NCGOP Tom (Not Gay) Fetzer jumped on this opportunity to profess his patriotic bigotry?

No Room In The Inn: A Christmas Call for Equal Access to Higher Education
Submitted by Graig on Fri, 12/26/2008 - 4:32pmAs he did last year, Rev. Dr. William Barber of the North Carolina NAACP gave his Christmas Message on the steps of the North Carolina Community College System. Rev. Barber reflected on Luke 2:7, in which Joseph and Mary are told there is no room in the inn. He called on the leaders of our state to have the courage to "open up these doors and let our children come in."
Don't you think that innkeeper might look back and wish that he had let Jesus into his his inn? Do we want to make the same mistake?
