Tedesco continues his campaign of insults
And as usual, his colleague Debra Goldman is the target:
"We're four, four and one and increasingly that one depends on what she thinks on any given day," said school board member John Tedesco, referring to the Walnut Creek calendar vote.
The word you're thinking of is "flighty", or one who responds to "flights of fancy", an ad hominem attack that reeks of sexism and was oft-used during the suffrage movement to cast doubt about how women would vote, if they were allowed to. It was a disgusting tactic 100 years ago, and it hasn't gotten any less disgusting since.

Even more rich with irony
...is the fact that part of the Flat-Earth School Board majority arguing for year round schools.
The wave that brought Tedesco and the Flat-Earth School Board majority into office was made up of a lot of anti-year round school parents.
It's
strangeinformative to see how silent those anti-year round parents are in this discussion when it's impacting SE Raleigh/Wake.That whole article is rich with other hypocrisy from Tedesco, but since it's Wake-centric, I'll let others hop to the link.
She has earned my respect
I may not agree with Ms. Goldman's stance on many issues, but she has earned my respect and gratitude for standing up for what is right.
- She put her foot down and refused to be a part of any more backroom deals the new Board majority had gotten into the habit of putting together. This is admirable as the new Board members had actually campaigned on NOT making backroom deals, claiming the old Board did so regularly.
- She put the school district and (can you believe this?) children first concerning the accreditation issue.
- She seems to be spending her time and energy being a proponent for the children of the district, unlike Mr. Tedesco, who seems to be spending his time and effort on being a proponent of a political agenda.
As I wrote above - Ms. Goldman has my respect. Mr. Tedesco has all the appearance of being a political hack, and has earned no respect from me.
(Kudos to Stephen Colbert for his ridiculing the idiocy of some of Mr. Tedescu's recent statements.)
Please write her and tell her:
Tom, I really hope that you and others who appreciate Ms. Goldman's willingness to think for herself will take the time to write or email her and tell her so. In my work, I deal with politicians and nonprofit leaders who are taking a stand all the time and what I have heard consistently is that it is incredibly demoralizing and exhausting to be in the minority and the target of a relentless campaign to chip away at the validity of one's opinion. I have no doubt she could use some moral support and a thank you right about now.
