Marc Basnight has secured approval for a ban on plastic bags for the three counties on the coast in his district - Dare, Currituck and Hyde.

This is a good initial step in stopping the huge buildup of plastic waste that is literally killing our oceans. See for yourself.

Thanks Senator Basnight. I am sure that my summer vacation to the outer banks will be much more pleasant knowing there will be less bags going into the ocean from NC coastal areas. I look forward to dining at the Lone Cedar and hope to see you this July 4th week. (if you are up to it, maybe an interview on this bill?)

it is actually hard for this type of legislation to pass - as it was defeated here in Colorado this year.
