The ADF is at it again
They seem to think that the Governor's School has an agenda to turn kids gay. Yes, I kid you not. They want to keep the school from showing a couple of films and having an intellegent discussion about them. Never mind that the school has required permission from the parents of the students before they will be allowed to see the films, the ADF has threatened to sue the NC Dept of Instruction to keep the film from being shown. The wrong wing spin can be found here.
My perspective and more info is here.

To announce that there must
I thought you meant
the American Dance Festival at first!
Good catch, Jim. Thanks for cross-posting this here.
And thanks for linking to your blog
I hadn't been there before. Nice.
Thanks
it's still a work in progress...
Several of my son's friends are at Governor's School
It will be interesting to hear their take on this.
I think the school is between a rock and a hard place
Personally, I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I have a friend that does. It seems to me that this is just one more case of the christo-fascists trying to impose their will on the rest of society. They think that by threatening the Dept of Instruction they can force them to bend to their will. But how that is any different than the Taliban and Islamic radicals doing the same thing in the mid-east and around the world is just beyond me. Both groups want to impose their will on the rest of us and to bad if you don't want it. They don't seem to know abut a little thing called "Separation of Church and State". It's there for a reason. This country is suppose to be a democracy, not a theocoracy. And it's high time people start fighting back against these fringe radicals who want to decide what you can think, do and say.
In discussion with my son over dinner tonight
he pointed out how ridiculous the idea that movies could affect someone like that. He said
Of the two friends of his who are at the school, he said that they would both want to watch the movies - and that they've all already seen But I'm a Cheerleader (which is a hysterical movie.) He also said that these idiots need to stop using the words "Alliance" and "Defense".
:) Nice to be young.
