Mr Smith goes to Washington

The perfect candiate! Humble and listens to the people! When Mr smith goes totaly anti-war! His campaign will soar!

I'm not sure if he's still running,

but Lloyd Scher maybe should be an option. I'm undecided at this point.

Lloyd Scher

is a nice guy. He doesn't have the ability to raise the money to run a serious campaign. He's a bit of a loose cannon and not someone I would want to send to Washington. I...um...only say this since there are at least two other very viable candidates. Robin Hayes had about $500,000 cash on hand Sept. 30th and he spent three times that in 2004 against Beth Troutman. I don't think he'll have a problem raising money. Grassroots campaigns are great, but we need to be realistic and do some serious fundraising to take this seat.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

I couldn't agree more...

we need to outspend Hayes if possible. If we do, we could take this race, just look at the numbers from the Hayes/Troutman race.

US CONGRESS DISTRICT 8
Name on Ballot.............Party........Ballot Count
Robin Hayes.................REP...........125,070 (55%)
Beth Troutman.............DEM..........100,101 (45%)

But wait, there is more. What kind of campaign did Beth get to run? A big high-budget affair like we expect in such a competitive race? No, afraid not. Hayes raised almost $1.7 million, while Beth only raised $231K.

55-45 in a Republican year, when the state went for Bush and Burr and his opponent raised $231K? C'mon, we could win this with $1.5 million raised and spent. Any chance of that....

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Fundraising in NC-8

I know that Dunn has done fairly well nationally with support from the DCCC. Kissell has yet to release any numbers, but he will be required to report pretty soon I think.

I just realized something, are you a OCYD?

I went once...

But I actually live in Wake County now. I have not made it to any of their events yet. They seem less frequent and organized anyway.

I went several times and

I went several times and they all seemed to be UNC Law students. I think I'm over the hill now anyway...

It was mainly Law Students

And since I saw them everyday, I saw no need to be in an additional group with them.

Larry Kissell is the man!

Republicans are ready to cross party lines to get rid of Hayes--he is one of the most vulnerable Republicans running in 2006. His relationship with DeLay and all those dirty campaign funds are his Achilles heel.

But there is a primary to get past first, and Dems in the district aren't going to vote for a pro-life, pro-war candidate that really isn't a Dem. Kissell is the only true Dem in this race and he's got my vote.

This is great!

Primary is really heating up. Of course, it's no secret from my old posts I've been a Kissell fan from the beginning, but I love seeing this kind of growing support.

The Charlotte Observer is also catching on.

"We're going to do it like Jimmy Carter did, 10 people telling 10 people telling 10 people," Democrat Larry Kissell said during a Thursday stop in Charlotte.

With Kissell distinguishing himself from Dunn proudly proclaiming he's pro-choice, pro-privacy in fact.

So what's up with this?

Kissell has not reported raising or spending any money. By contrast, Dunn had raised nearly $50,000 through September. And Hayes' campaign had nearly $550,000 in the bank.

Kissell said he's running to help other middle-class workers like himself, and he's concerned over the nation's direction.

Do only trial lawyer pacs and corporations contribute to campaigns now? Us regular people can give on Act Blue, and need to if we want anything to change. (Hint, hint...)

Like the new software and siggy feature here by the way.

"I'm sure if you asked Rep. Hayes he's 'flat-out, completely, horizontally opposed' to torture, just like he was CAFTA. Too bad he voted for both."
