They've sent us back home
I hope my political sisters come out of the woodwork today and sign up to run in every district in the state. If for no other reason than to say you can't just send us home and think we'll go quietly back to being baby machines. Chris Fitzsimon provided the grim numbers yesterday.
6 - total number of women currently serving in the 50-member North Carolina Senate (N.C. General Assembly)
3 - number of Democratic women serving in the 50-member North Carolina Senate (Ibid)
2 - number of Democratic women double-bunked in the new legislative districts drawn by the Republican legislative leadership (“Lewis: Map bias accusations 'absurd', WRAL-TV, February 9, 2012)
22 - number of Democratic women currently serving in the 120-member North Carolina House of Representatives (N.C. General Assembly)
8 - number of Democratic women double-bunked in legislative districts drawn by the Republican legislative leadership (“Lewis: Map bias accusations 'absurd', WRAL-TV, February 9, 2012)
4 - number of Democratic women currently serving in the North Carolina House placed in significantly more Republican districts in plans drawn by the Republican legislative leadership (“Lewis: Map bias accusations 'absurd', WRAL-TV, February 9, 2012)
55 - percent of Democratic women currently serving in the House negatively affected by the district plans drawn by the Republican legislative leadership. (“Lewis: Map bias accusations 'absurd', WRAL-TV, February 9, 2012)
If that's not targeting Democratic women, I'd like to know what it is.

What I don't understand is why women put up with it
If women wanted to run this state, they could. They have the numbers. But it seems that a majority are happy to be told what they can and can't do buy a bunch of Tea Party misogynists.
I think many women do not run....
,,, because they know that they will have to deal with assholes day in and day out at the General Assembly if they win, and they prefer not to spend the minutes of their days around people like that. They feel they can be more productive in improving the world in other ways and not have to deal with so many jerks. As a whole, we aren't as driven by ego either and so the lure of being an elected official just doesn't float our boat as much, or at least enough to justify living, breathing and eating with so many ego-bloated men day in and day out. In addition, the money race necessary to be able to bankroll a campaign is a pissing contest if ever I saw one. We women have always felt that pissing contests accomplished little.
Wish I were kidding, but I'm not.
