Tuesday Twitter roundup
First off, a call to arms...or not arm...anyway:
gregflynn 2:38pm via Tweet Button Affirm that the State of North Carolina is and will continue to be one of these United States of America. http://wh.gov/9SuM #ncpol
In case you haven't been keeping up, our Union is once more in jeopardy:
peterwalz Nov 12, 10:52pm via TweetCaster for Android This is just unAmerican. Pathetic. GOP has delusional base. RT @newsobserver: Thousands sign petitions to secede. NC has 10,000+ #ncpol
It's crazier than it looks:
Among the states with petitions calling for secession is North Carolina, which has more than 21,000 signatures as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The man behind the state's petition is Pittsboro-based conservative blogger Randy Dye, who says the only way to shrink government is "for states to become their own countries."
"But its not because of [race]," Dye insisted. "You know, they use that race thing as a political excuse. But it's not about race." Instead, Dye accuses Obama of wanting a socialist government.
When asked if a leader who wanted a Socialist government would also allow citizens to petition their government in a public forum, Dye responded, "Whuut?"
Enough crazy (for now), here's a great opportunity:
LilliansList Nov 12, 2:22pm via HootSuite Two weeks left to apply for spring internships! Good antidote for election withdrawal :) ow.ly/fea4q #ncpol #ncga #pleaseRT
Aside from being a fantastically cool thing to do, 7 out of 8 internships leave a student knowing exactly what he/she wants to do with their life. Okay, I just made that up, but it doesn't make it wrong.
ByJohnFrank 4:13pm via TweetDeck Pat McCrory won the governor's race and now he's headed to Las Vegas to celebrate: bit.ly/XCwTDn #ncpol #ncgov
Dude, what about Cherokee? They've got tables, now. Not sure about the buffet, but you know. Sheesh, not even our gambling's good enough for him...
betseyross: "It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains" - Patrick Henry #tcot #p2 #ncpol #msnbc #lnyhbt #cnn #cbs #abc
Yeah, here's another quote from Patrick Henry:
The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.
It's right-wing idealogues like the Twit above whose fantasy of becoming rich one day leads them to side with backroom dealers like Pat McCrory and Mitt Romney, and corporate boards of directors who want to secretly spend hundreds of millions to get their puppets elected. I'd prefer to defend everybody's liberty, thank you very much.
Allright, I'm all used up. Here's your Onion, and I'm off to fix breakfast for dinner (because I can):
