URGENT: Call Gov. Perdue and tell her to keep Community College affordable

The good people at the NC Justice Center got the word that Governor Perdue is considering her options regarding a veto of HB 7, the GOP's atrocious bill to make community college less affordable by undermining access to crucial federal loans.
Please give the Governor's office a call at (919) 733-4240 and urge her to veto this bill. It takes two minutes and it will mean the world to thousands of students in North Carolina.

- House Bill 7 would make it harder for many students to afford much-needed post-secondary education, and I urge Governor Perdue to veto this harmful proposal.
- If North Carolina is to add jobs and get its economy moving, the state will need more workers with post-secondary credentials.
- Expanding access to the federal student loan program from the current 21 campuses to all 58 community colleges would provide students with an affordable tool to pay for their education expenses.
- Without access to federal loans, many students will have to put their tuition on high-interest credit cards, adding a crippling debt burden that will take many years to overcome.
- Access to federal loans is especially important in these times of rising costs to attend community college in North Carolina.
- Again, I strongly urge Governor Perdue to veto House Bill 7.
