V. Foxx (R-NC) to appear at anti-health care reform rally in Winston-Salem (August 3)

Late late notice, but for all NC health care reform advocates, this alert was posted in a comment on Daily Kos regarding a Anti-Health Care rally today (August 3) in Winston-Salem. Below is information about a counter-rally organized by supporters of health care reform.

Details and link:

"Anti-health care Congresswoman Virginia Foxx is scheduled to appear at an anti-health care reform rally TODAY at the Golden Corral at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem. This event has been announced by the local Republican Party and Patients First.

Supporters of health care reform are invited to meet at 11 a.m. TODAY in the parking area across from Olive Garden at Hanes Mall (near the Golden Corral). From there, it will be a five-minute walk to three good legal picket location options.

Participants are encouraged to bring signs with slogans like the following:
Health Care Reform Now!
We Support President Obama!
Foxx Does NOT Speak for Me!

Local media will be alerted to the counter-rally.

Multiple individuals are sending out this announcement, including local supporters of health care reform and Democratic group officials. Please pass this on."

Virginia Foxx is an enemy of the people.

Why isn't she having an open forum that allows all voices?

Progressives are the true conservatives.

I think you answered your own question LoftT

But you could also say that Foxx feels that the people are her enemy.....

Did anyone get her email the other day that told us how the government really is taking all the dead people and turning them into a food called soylent green? :D

But Virginia Foxx, instead of holding roundtable discussions, including people from both parties, to discuss the issues, chooses to let the insurance companies, who have given her so much money, finance huge busses to bring along her supporters, anti Healthcare Reform People. Foxx doesn't even bother to inform all of her constituents, especially those of us who are pushing President Obama's Healthcare Reform Measures, when she will be in town. She only "speaks to the choir," such as this morning over at the Golden Corral in Winston-Salem

This is the MO of anti health care organized mobs™ all over the country this month. People are being bussed in to town halls to rant and rage at Congress people.

Progressives are the true conservatives.

Foxx follies

In case anyone was really wondering, Foxx did not appear at an open forum and has never expressed an interest in hearing health care reform views from other than the lunatic fringe right.

Her appearance in Winston-Salem yesterday (Monday) was as a featured speaker for the local stop of the Prosperous Americans propaganda tour. I was there with a modest-sized group (two dozen) of local health care reform supporters. We set up shop across the street from the anti-reform group, with our hand-made signs, to witness for the truth about this issue--and the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans. We could easily have fielded a much larger crowd, but were acting with a mere few hours notice of the event.

No doubt to the chagrin of the well-heeled Prosperous Americans dog-and-pony show organizers, our modest presence was enough to draw roughly equal print media time, and even an acknowledgement on local Fox News.

In her brief comments--no questions invited--Foxx stuck with her wingnutty talking points, including the remarkable assertion that there are really only 7.8 million "long term" uninsured.

Perhaps she is using a definition of "long term" which discounts the many who die prematurely due to lack of preventive care or early treatment.

Great Job & Would Love to Hear More

Dan I would love to hear more about the event. At least you were able to get others out there to show that the minority doesn't represent the majority of people. Foxx is using 7.8 million uninsured from just the state of Texas. One of the many Republican tactics is to take one states stats and say it represents the entire country or to disregard one states stats for some reason that never makes sense. We had a guy on here last week that tried arguing with me over a post that I wrote. He used the same talking points and figures as Foxx does. I held my ground and provided actual proof and asked him to provide proof that what he was saying was true.

Too many people believe Foxx and those like her. I'm glad to hear you were there to at least show our side of the story.
