Virginia Foxx Jumps On the McCarthyite Train

It's all the rage among the Bush loyalists and Rovian political adherents to call their political adversaires anti-american. Michelle Bachman famously did so and earned herself enormous scorn manifesting in a million dollars going to her opponent, El Tinklenberg. Robin Hayes then smeared an entire political philosophy by saying that "liberals hate real Americans".

Now we hear that Virginia Foxx (NC-05) has hopped on the McCarthy Train.

CQPolitics:

"A second-term lawmaker from Watauga County, N.C., Foxx has made a practice of referring to Democrats as the “anti-American energy” party because many of them oppose expanding oil and gas drilling off the nation’s coasts and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

But Foxx went even further last month, according to a transcript of House floor proceedings on Sept. 17.

“We had a great opportunity to pass a bill yesterday that would have created more American energy, but my colleagues on the other side don’t seem to be in favor of more American energy. They seem to be anti-American energy, just as many other things that they support seem to be anti-American power and anti-American control,” Foxx said.

If you'd like to fight back against this kind of McCarthy, scorched earth politics that serves only to divide America, then why not send some coin and volunteer time to Virginia Foxx's challenger in NC-05, Roy Carter. Carter's as all-American as they come, no matter what Virginia Foxx and her McCarthyite Bush loyalists might say.
