Voter Rights Hand-Out To Distribute

Please help us combat the voter intimidation tactics being used at some NC polling places this year: if you know of anyone working the polls tomorrow or on Tuesday, get them a copy of this Election Protection Hand-Out, which includes the the North Carolina Voter Bill of Rights as well as the truth about several major myths being used to discourage voters this year. This cycle we have definitely seen more aggressive behavior at the polls.

Shouting at the Democratic greeters, jockeying for contact as voters approach.

And with long lines, and overly busy poll workers, it is important to know what the voter rights are.

This handy list that is offered, should be at every polling site.

They will also try to tell you that you can't carry a sample ballot with you into the voting booth. Please make sure that voters know that this is perfectly acceptable to do. Many of our voters prefer to do this and there are often Republicans trying to intimidate voters, telling them that to carry one in with you is illegal. We even had a crazy older "gentleman" threaten to punch out a worker for handing out sample ballots to those going to early voting. He remained convinced that this volunteer was breaking the law even when others corrected him. He came back later but didn't have the guts to get out of his car since others remained with the elderly disabled American veteran as he exercised his right to participate in the political process.
