Will someone help me? I am having a hard time trying to figure out is it normal for a mother to not attempt to find out who her baby daddy is? So what will she tell the baby when they grow up? Oh she will let the daddy be whoever the man is in her life at that time. That ain't right.

The mother probably knows who the father is, don't you think? So she can tell her son if she wants. Do you think the kid would feel better if she said, "I didn't know who your father was until we took DNA tests?"
(If she knows then just say it. Maybe she knows and trying to keep it a secret since the birth certificate does not have a name.
The mother seems to have provided an income for her and her son for the rest of their lives. Ain't that right?

Single moms.
All other prurient interests aside, single moms raise children every day. I daresay most know who the father is, but some don't. If the father is not present in the child's life - what difference does it make? An absent father is an absent father.

First of all you are talking about 2 different things. A father not being involved in the child's life vs not knowing who your father is, is 2 different subjects.
Every child deserves the right to know who their real daddy is however I am not going to get into a debate with you because anyone in their right mind should want their child to have a relationship with their father.
Hell I had 2 children out of wed-lock but I was involved in my children lives even though I had to follow the oldest child mother to Maryland to have a relationship with my daughter. The mother moved there when my child was about 3 years old and I traveled to Maryland during holidays and the summer to bring my child back to NC so that we could have a relationship. I didn't give a damn where she moved I was going to be a part of my child's life.
The 2nd child, a daughter, was around 6 years old when her mother and I got married. Since that time we had a child and we are one happy family.
So if you think an absent father is an absent father is good enough for you then so be it. I preach to the fellas that they need to have a relationship with their children and I don't give a damn how ignant the mother acts.

You're making too many assumptions
Just because the woman will not submit to the will of the Media/Public to conduct a paternity test does not mean she doesn't know (or doesn't want to know) who the father is. It also doesn't mean anything about what relationship the father will or will not have with the child.
It simply means she is trying to maintain whatever shred of privacy she can in this matter.

We don't have to know everything
I can almost guarantee you that she knows who the father is so why does she need a DNA test? The father probably knows too. Just because she isn't making it public doesn't mean the father won't have a relationship with his daughter. We don't have to know everything.
