What to expect now from Republican haters
I remember how disappointed I was when George W. Bush was elected president the second time. I couldn't imagine how Americans could be so dumb, and I committed myself to working even harder to restore sanity to Washington. I was angry, for sure, but I can't recall wishing Republicans would die or be killed for their stupidity. I am, after all, a pacifist at heart.
Following today's vote, however, the rhetoric will reach the red zone. We're already hearing calls for violence, with faithful tea baggers being encouraged to break the law, buy guns, and kill a commie for Christ.
"It's like the Salem witch trials, and healthcare is the witches," Barney Frank said. "There is mass hysteria."
After a while more and more people will be hungry and the hoards [six]will be coming after us. I have 500 rounds of ammo. Do I kill 499 and save the last one for myself?
The Tea Party Patriots and 9/12ers are not violent (at least not yet.)
I believe the right wing has become unhinged, just as the left did after Bush's coronation. The difference is the nature of our response. We redoubled our efforts within the system, they froth themselves up for gun play. Which is perfectly logical since Machine Gun Jesus is telling them what to do.

Boehner calls R's to "behave like grown-ups"
In preparation for going down in flames, with almost nothing to show for a year of obstructionism, Republicans are being reminded to behave like the adults they wish they were. Sad business.
I have been away :)
Being a big college B-Ball fan, I have been "away" from BlueNC except for an occasional snippy little post here and there. It is "March Madness" don't ya know. This year we are seeing a lot of upsets. Now, DON'T GO ANYWHERE...this has a point, okay?
#12 seed Cornell beat #4 Wisconsin. #11 seed Washington beat #3 New Mexico. #9 seed Northern Iowa (who???) beat #1 Kansas. #10 seed St. Mary's beat #2 Villanova. (I'm a Carolina fan "true and blue", but when it comes to the Big Dance, I am all about the ACC and Duke is still in the hunt so that is where my focus lies right now).
The reason I bring this up is because regardless how it looks at any given time in any given battle, things change, y'all. The political pundits have democrats (in particular progressive democrats) losing big time this November. But, it is March. It is not November. Things change. The political pendelum (sp?) swings at will. Now is not the time for the faithful to just give in to prognostication. Nothing is a given. Getting this HCR bill passed will, in my view, be a plus.
All the top seeded teams that lost their "battles" against lesser opponents saw the lesser opponent win because they kept their heart in it.
Stay diligent, all.

Networking at its best
I got the following email this morning from a repug friend of mine in Arizona. I read it and just discounted it. But, now I see how the right is networking. They are using every available source to get their message out. This is just an email but if it proliferates (as is their plan) it can reach tens or even hundreds of millions. Everyone will not necessarily agree with it, but it is out there. It is just a small piece of their puzzle. Together, the pieces make a picture. Pictures speak a thousand words. Get the point?
Here is what I received (not sure what quality it will be as the email was not really presented well):

Of course, now it'll get read by another few thousand people
because of your posting it here. Just sayin.
Not me
I skipped it after Foxrot said "I read it and just discounted it." Why repeat efforts?
Progressives are the true conservatives.
"Dr" Barton is a distinguished grad of Oral Roberts U....
Best I can tell he earned a BA in religious education and even his own bio doesn't mention a Doctorate in anything. I suppose it could be honorary... Anyway, his views of our forefathers and our Constitution appear to be delusional and self-serving. I suspect he is an expert on nothing but how to make money from his ravings. He has lots of evangelical mentors.

Thanks, Stan
Your post proves a point I made here earlier.

Head in the sand?
James, just how many people here on BlueNC will buy that?
We cannot just hide from what is being said by our opposition and what they are doing.
But, because I respect you and BlueNC, I will avoid passing on anything like this again.
I won't apologize for putting it here, though. But, I will honor what I think you are saying and that is that you would rather things like this not be presented here.

No worries
I get stuff like that all the time ... so this particular head is not in the sand.
I wasn't asking you to not post it, and I agree that we need to be aware of what's happening on the right. I'm not sure they're any better at this than we are.
I got a lengthy email from a "conservative" relative
that was just as looney as this one. I figured he sent it to all his conservative friends as well...so I replied to all with a scathing but factual analysis. You wouldn't believe the hate mail I got from some on his distribution list. Some people live to read and believe this manure. I'm guessing James knows there are some who will read it and be helped to believe their own skewed view of the world. Sorta like folks who believe Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity...and would would vote for Newt Gingrich or Sarah Palin.
Whatever. These folks all talk about God and patriotism and freedom and liberty and they twist history to meet their own warped views. My personal opinion is that they'd all wet themselves if they thought they actually had to personally take up a rifle and defend their beloved land and the freedoms that give them the right to preach sedition.
Stan Bozarth
Oh yeah
Yeah, Stan. I get them all of the time also. I mostly just shake my head and smirk when I read them. I decided to post this particular one I got because it shows what the "other side" is doing/saying...nothing more. My wife is a conserv/repug and her friends regularly send the same righty emails to both of our email addresses because we both are in their address book. Also, I have a number of e-buddies that are not only "righties" but are active in the GOP (from a number of different states) and I get things from them because of being a "moderate-to-left demo". We have fun with it, actually. Most of my buds are vets, most Vietnam vets, so I do not have the same view as you on defending their land and freedoms.
As I told James, I will avoid presenting any of the things I get from this point forward. It is not a problem.

I was referring to
Hannity and Beck and the like....about wetting themselves.
Stan Bozarth
Hey, no sweat
Many of those that send me emails on this stuff are like that.
You can see how I saw that, right?

Okay
I will still avoid that, though :)...because I know what "just sayin' " means.

We only hate what you're doing to our Constitutional Republic
As said, celebrate your faux victory...for you have awakened a sleeping giant far more powerful than any movement you have ever seen. We have the funds, the backbone and the fortitude to tear it all down...and we will.
That is all.
Good luck with that
Seriously. Tearing shit down is teh baggers' strong suit, maybe even the only thing you're capable of.
Don't worry though. We'll be there to clean up your messes, just like we're still picking up the trash Dear Leader left behind after eight years of the worst presidency ever.
Thank you Yamamoto
the giant was awaken by Bush and its cabal and you saw the results last November. Stay tuned, more to come.
Rush Radio
I saw Glen Beck announcing the new Rush Radio on the teevee this am. I guess he's cutting out the middleman now.
Progressives are the true conservatives.
wow
I love reading Liberal boards... Congrats on passing this bill, for now. It will eventually be shot down by the same Supreme Court that your king insulted a couple months ago in his SOTU address. 5-4 vote. I'm honestly hoping that after this bill finally dies, Reps and dems can work out something something that doesn't suck even 1/2 this bad, and something that won't backrupt the country. Doubt it though. What I honestly think will happen is there will be a HUUUUUUGE sea of RED in November, and BOTH the house and the senate will be Republican controlled. Then they will pass some decent legislation, Obama will SIGN it, take all the credit, and get reelected in 2012 - just like Clinton did. You heard it here 1st. You may HATE me, but deep down, you know I'm right. (in more ways than one).
Hate you?
Sorry, your paranoia is showing.
Hate is not our style here at BlueNC. Not even when you type it in capital letters. We might think you're nuts or hypocritical. And if you believe in violence, we might consider you a traitor. We might even feel sorry for you. But we'd never hate you. It's not worth the trouble.
Like most of the baggers who visit, you have a certainty that you're right about everything. That delusion of grandeur seems to be a unifying trend among Republican extremists. We understand, but that too is not our style. We routinely ask "what if we're wrong" and do everything we can to find common ground to set things on the proper course. Only in the face of pure obstructionism do we force ourselves to move forward in building a more just and fair society. It's hard work that defies simplistic solutions. You might consider trying it sometimes.
