Who will step up?

The list of do-nothing Democrats gets longer and longer every day we are in Iraq. In 2006, Americans sent a powerful message with their vote to end the war in Iraq. Now that the Democrats are in control of both halves of Congress, we are still in Iraq. We will be in Iraq for the foreseeable future. Bush has even said it will be his predecessor that brings the troops home. He has also embraced a “South Korea” scenario where we NEVER leave Iraq.
Since the 2006 election, even MORE Americans see the Iraq invasion as a horrible mistake and want our troops brought home and support such legislation. Still, we remain in Iraq. We don’t even have a withdrawal plan and this shouldn’t be surprising. We had no plan going into Iraq, why should we expect BushCo to have one for coming OUT.
It is time to STOP enabling Democrats and START making them vote for US, not their corporate contributors. The people of the 11th District may have voted to put Shuler in Congress, but it was a national effort of progressive bloggers and small donations from all over the country that paid for the ads, the mailers - the whole campaign. But Congressmen like Shuler should be made aware of just how tenuous their hold of their Congressional seat is. If he keeps voting the same way as Elizabeth Dole, I will do all I can to support his challengers in the 2008 Primaries.
In fact, any Democrat that keeps a voting record akin to Elizabeth Dole’s needs to be replaced. My question to you is, who will step up?

I Totally Agree -
Anyone who so consistently says one thing and does the opposite ... has ... to ... go...
The truth is not in them.
You expect the GOP to lie to you...
... but how do you determine if a new Dem face running for Congress will pop up to be the next Liddy Dole? Do we start scrutinizing new politicians more closely, do we grill them even more so on the issues?

Maybe we should institute
The People's Signing Statements
A promise of a swift and powerfull RECALL when the Mr. Hyde we elected starts acting like Dr. Jekyll.
Progressives are the true conservatives.
Who did Heath
defeat in the primary, and why?
I'm playing catch-up here, but I've seen comments that his platform was conservative from the start. Could a progressive Democrat win in his district?
That's How He Won -
Could a 'progressive' Democrat win that district?
Possibly...but equally possible is a conservative of any flavor winning.
Might as well keep the one you have - Heath at least appears honest. The man he replaced was anything BUT honest.
There is a place for conservative Democrats just as there is for progressive, moderate, and liberal. With the right mix the power is balanced with justice for all, not just the few.
Of course, as always ... YMMV
I can understand Blue Dogs having issues with taxation and...
... other related issues.
I am stupified as to why Heath would believe staying in Iraq is a good thing. THAT is what kills me.

Is That What He Truly Believes -
or are you basing that on his vote for the supplemental funding?
From conversations with others there is more to that picture than meets the eye. The 'proof' will come if/when the real budget comes.
From what I understand, Iraq in its entirety has been funded with 'supplementals' rather than true 'appropriations' which is what is typical and has always been done ...
We shall see what we shall see ... 'come September' if anyone remembers that being bandied about ...
Yes, I believe that is when we shall see true colours.
