Go Don!

Don Vaughan will be a great NCDP Chair. He is the right choice for the job!

Don will be glad to bring alone ALEC

Don is either perversely unaware of ALECs horrible affect on states or is a Republican.

Don Vaughan Would Make a Great Party Chair

Frank Eaton would make a great party chair

Mary-Ann Baldwin would make a great party chair

Baldwin weak on domestic partnership benefits

Cross-posting this comment from another thread regarding Baldwin on gay rights issues. In a 2009 campaign questionnaire the following was asked:

Two years ago, the Indy asked every council candidate if s/he would support extending to same-sex partners the same benefits (e.g., health insurance) on the same basis that they are now offered to the spouses of city employees. Virtually everyone said yes, but to date nothing's been done. Is it time?

Answer: If constituents feel it is time, then it is time.

"If the constituents feel it is time" Where is the leadership? That is reactive response not proactive. We need leadership, especially now. In 2009 the cities of Durham, Chapel Hill, Greensboro and Carrboro were already offering domestic partnership benefits. Since then Asheville has added domestic partnership benefits. Raleigh is still waiting.

Baldwin supports domestic partner benefits

From the 2011 Independent Weekly Candidate Questionnaire

Regarding health insurance and other benefits provided to city employees, should the partners of LGBT employees be offered the same access to benefits as married spouses?

Yes. My sister has benefits thorough her partner, and I believe that is right and just.

I have no respect for drive-by smears from anonymous posters. If you can't come up with a pseudonym to keep the comments straight then I may just delete any anonymous posting simply listing "Anonymous" without a validating email.

Howabout Just Not Accepting David Parker's Resignation

Keep Parker as chair! No hard choice there for the informed and involved.

gregflynn: I believe the original poster was referring to the 2009 survey. See below:

2011 comes after 2009 in my calendar

Maybe your's is different.

throw them all out

I say we vote them all out. They stood there with Parker, and kept silent as well.

Elect a new chair, and all new DNC members

endorsers and supporters

When I can't decide between candidates based on their qualifications, it often comes down to who supports and endorses them. I truly believe we are judged by the company we keep and based on this, I know who I am not supporting tomorrow.

That doesn't sound very "democratic" to me!

Do you think that any candidate should be judged by someone who supports them and is totally independent of them. Meaning they don't work for the candidate - they have just endorsed the candidate.

This is totally different from someone like a particular consultant that is paid by a candidate or a group who has attacked the Party - I've already heard that some activists are examining the campaign expense records to see who campaigns are paying to consult for them. Meaning support will be with-held if you have the wrong consultant working for you in any capacity.

Of course if you don't agree with a candidate's supporters

You call their employer.

Nice.

enjoy your party

I don't recognize it.

We will now have a National Democratic Convention in a state without a functioning Democratic Party. Nice work.

Spill it

What happened?

just go follow the cluster*ck on #ncdp

unbelievable. Parker is an arrogant ass who got everyone fired up and set the table to reject his resignation. The people in the room refused to allow the Congressman to chair that portion of the proceedings. Parker left. Gwen lost control. Nobody knows what they're voting on , and people are calling each other Republicans when they lose a motion. THe SEC rejects the resignation, and now we have a Party that is split, with a chairman nobody, including the gubernatorial nominee and the President, want to be anywhere near, and the whole world is coming to visit in three months.

Great. Parker is an idiot. and so is anyone who voted not to accept his resignation.

Parker Makes NCDP National News...just not in a good way

Just read the HuffPo article....

Thanks David. You have made the NCDP look like a joke as we prepare for the DNC Convention.

The nice fluffy videos from Frank Eaton early on in your Chairmanship did not prepare your minions to see that you are not suited for the role.

Now that reality has set in, I hope folks vote for someone who is capable, effective, tested and able to clean up the mess Chair Parker & his supporters have given NCDP.

Vote for Mary Ann!!!!!

wow

I am stunned that Parker is still in. Don't know where we'll go from here. I am proud to be a Progressive but I really don't understand what has happened to our Democratic Party here in NC!

Is Frank running?

Does Frank like, want, votes in the poll? Has Eric Mansfield said he would consider running?

I'm not tuned in, but this stuff is important.

Got to love the outpouring of anonymous support for ALEC's Vaughan.

Oh! SEC meeting is today

Looks like people are getting cranky. Poor bastards.

Come November

Chris Telesca is going to get his wish. He and his folks will be in a charge of a party with no elected officials. Beautiful job on this guys.

It's 178 days until election day. Time to pull together.

The candidates and the Chairman have to lead by example. All of them.

Too late

Parker's people don't care for candidates and "electeds" or the Council of State. Parker is leading by example alright - into the narcissistic abyss.

they destroyed the party today

Destroyed it.

No national money. No coordinated campaign. A complete fiscal disaster. Welcome to South Carolina. I hope you nimrods enjoy running a political party with no elected officials, because thats what you're going to get.

Misogyny won today. Witness the attacks on Elaine Marshall. Nice work, Chris.

This poll is totally irrelevant

By not having the name of David Parker, this poll was irrelevant from the nanosecond it went live. This was a rigged poll.

Don Vaughan was run out of the SEC on a rail. People taunted him as a member of ALEC. In loud voices they would say well within his earshot: "I can stand any of the candidates - EXCEPT FOR THE ONE WHO'S A MEMBER OF ALEC!!"

Mary Ann Baldwin went down badly - after word about her work and support for a Republican candidate who ran against Don Mial coursed through the SEC.

Vaughan and Baldwin are ruined with the SEC - but neither of them ever took much interest in it. This was Baldwin's first SEC meeting, and probably her last.

Ruined within that bunch?

I'd put it on my resume.

It's not my fault

I was under the impression that David wasn't a candidate. Because he said he wasn't a candidate. I was under the impression he was resigning. Because he said he was resigning.

If you want me to base future polls on the assumption that people are lying, then just say so.

He resigned. He wasn't a candidate.

David submitted his resignation and he was not a candidate yesterday. The subsequent votes taken were to determine whether or not the SEC would accept the resignation which he tendered. They did not.

Seems pretty factual to me. He told the truth.

Technically true, patently dishonest

What you and David Parker either don't understand or are intentionally ignoring is: We're not in a court of law, where clever machinations are considered worthy. We're in a court of public opinion, where deceptive practices are frowned upon, and lack of trust can destroy the unity of an organization and all the good things that organization wants to do.

for the record

Lying and dissembling are especially not allowed in Court.

Poll closed

In accordance with the multi-verse theory, in some other reality, a new Chairman has taken over the Party in a relatively smooth and rapid transition. In our reality, that didn't happen...
