The Wilmington Star News slammed Tillis this morning.
The opening words were:
Such a stand-up guy, that Thom Tillis. Two top aides who embarrassed the House speaker and reminded us that pay-to-play politics is a bipartisan institution were rewarded with an extra month of salary after they were forced to resign as a result of affairs with lobbyists. That's right, while ex-U.S. Sen. John Edwards' lawyers were busy defending the onetime presidential hopeful against charges of using campaign money to cover up an extramarital affair that produced a daughter, Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, awarded his two staffers $19,000 in taxpayer money because, well, he's just a great big softie.

I've had a bit to say about taxes recently and this article is another example of why we should protest tax increases. They're flushing the money down the toilet.
In a related article in this morning's news a Kentucky Congressman has arranged for the Armed Services to purchase "no-drip" oil pans for BlackHawk Helicopters from a business in his home state. These oil pans will cost $17,000 apiece...never mind that a similar product is available for $2500. I still remember the $800 hammers and the toilet seats (I don't remember the exact number..but @ $1700) we taxpayers bought some years ago.
