a crazy idea to counter NC's gerrymandering

If you have a sense of right and wrong that is 100% unbendable read no further ... otherwise, have at it ...

Imagine election day 2014 and Skip Stam and Thom Tillis lose ... in addition Rene Ellmers gets her walking papers. Here's how that could, could, could, (clap for Tinkerbell, dream the dream) happen:

Thousands of screaming liberal democrats move from Durham and CHapel Hill (Price & Watt's districts) 31 days prior to the last early voting day of the election to Stam's, Tillis's and Elmer's districts. Price and Watt can easily spare 100k voters each. Butterfield could spare many thousands as well. It would take an outrageous amount of planning and organization, but wouldn't it be fun. Chapel Hill and Durham have a lot of students and senior citizens that could move for a month. House swapping could be done or dems in the target areas could put folks up in the spare bedroom or the garage. You only have to be a citizen of the county you will vote in 30 days prior to registering.

Is it a perversion of the democratic process? YES!! But so is the insane level of gerrymandering that the R's have perpetrated on NC. Just imagine the look on the GOPers' and Art Pope's faces election night if 200,000-250,000 democratic votes suddenly aren't where they were supposed to be.

For your convenience 2012 election results are here and NC's congressional districts are here. This link has state districts and cong. districts.

Oh, I suppose I should have mentioned that

everyone moves back to their original county, home, apartment, little grass shack of residence after the election.

Yeah, I know. It will never happen. In NC, Tinkerbell is dead until 2022, at least.

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?

I'll do it

I bet we could take over Carteret County without breaking a sweat.

How would you prove that you actually moved?

You would need a physical address to at least register at - and send a certified letter to yourself there that you sign for as minimal proof of residence.

Too much work - and then you'd have to do it all over again in two more years. Sounds like all the crazy phone banking only schemes.

Why not build the Party from the grassroots precinct level on up and build something that lasts beyond the election cycle?

.... don't get the point.
