Rep. Mike Stone: It's Cold, and I Don't Understand Science

Science is tough, what with its rules and laws and proof. And, hey, look, it's snowing outside. For Rep. Mike Stone, apparently snow on the ground means that Global Warming must be a joke. So, as his constituents deal with power outages, impassable roads, and cancellations, Stone finds some humor in his lack of basic understanding of science. As The Rant notes, there are easily found articles that explain the difference between climate and weather, but that would require typing words into Google and then reading. It's much easier to make a Facebook post that continues the ignorance.

Nailed it!

The commenter, jcalendine, in the cited article nailed it:

Mike Stone doesn’t know what climate change is. He only knows what conservative talk media tells him it is. This kind of anti-scientific thinking is prevalent in the NCGA, and it’s part of why so many bad laws have been proposed and passed. It is well past time for a change – not climate, but political.

It really is frightening how many people believe what Fox News tells them and then repeat it as the truth. And it gets really scary when you realize that a bunch of them are making laws.

Arguing science

Arguing science with a Tea Bagger like Stone is like trying to play chess with a chicken. The chicken's just going to strut around and take a crap all over your chess board.
